Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC (Director General Lee Dohyun, hereafter Jeonbuk Hyundai) announced on the 28th that, as part of its club philosophy of "making a better world through soccer and contributing to progress toward humanity," it will attach the logo of the United Nations World Food Programme (World Food Programme, hereafter WFP) to the upper center of the club uniform starting May 31, 2025.
WFP is the world's largest humanitarian relief organization affiliated with the United Nations, working to combat global hunger and promote food security, and it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020.
The upper center of the uniform, where the WFP logo will be placed, has high media exposure and holds the greatest advertising value from a marketing perspective as a "premium slot." K League clubs, as well as prestigious overseas clubs, utilize this position as a key sponsor exposure area.
Jeonbuk Hyundai is not only forgoing the revenue that can be generated from this space but has also committed additional donations, joining WFP's role in pursuing the public good of humanity through efforts against Kia and emergency relief.
A Jeonbuk Hyundai official noted that this collaboration reflects the philosophy of "progress toward humanity" that Hyundai Motor seeks.
Starting July 2024, Hyundai Motor is assisting WFP's humanitarian activities by donating funds for the establishment of eco-friendly vehicle infrastructure at various WFP branches worldwide, and Jeonbuk Hyundai will showcase this corporate philosophy through sports on the field.
Director General Lee Dohyun of Jeonbuk Hyundai said, "Collaboration with WFP (United Nations World Food Programme) embodies the club's long-term aspirations," adding, "We will prove together with the fans that soccer can be a language that changes the world."
