The Hanwha Eagles won against the LG Twins after a fierce extra-inning battle.

Hanwha achieved a 5-4 victory in the 11th inning of the 2025 KBO League match against LG on the 28th at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul. With this victory, Hanwha narrowed the gap to 2.5 games behind the leading LG.

Hanwha seized the initiative with Florial's leadoff home run in the top of the first inning. Florial hit a home run over the right-field wall off LG starter Coen Wynne's second two-seam pitch.

After one out in the third inning, Hwang Young-mook reached base with a single to center field, and Florial's ground ball to second base resulted in two outs with a runner on second. With two outs and a runner on second, Ha Ju-suk hit a timely single to center field to make it 2-0. Moon Hyun-bin followed with a double to right field, allowing the runner on first, Ha Ju-suk, to score. Roh Si-hwan continued with a timely single to right field to extend the lead to 4-0.

Hanwha starter Ponce allowed a solo home run to Kim Hyun-soo in the fourth inning and another solo homer to Lee Young-bin in the sixth inning.

Ponce faced a crisis in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second with no outs. The runners were caught in a rundown due to a pitchout. However, third baseman Roh Si-hwan failed to force the runner and threw to second base, resulting in both runners being safe. An unrecorded error led to no outs with runners on second and third. Ponce struck out Gu Bon-hyeok and pinch hitter Oh Ji-hwan in succession but allowed a bloop single to Park Hae-min to tie the game at 4-4.

Ponce recorded 7 innings with 6 hits allowed, 2 home runs, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts, and 4 earned runs. In the 8th inning, Han Seung-hyeok, in the 9th inning Kim Seo-hyeon, and in the 10th inning Park Sang-won pitched scoreless innings.

In the top of the 11th inning, Chae Eun-seong hit a two-run home run over the left-field wall with two outs and a runner on first, gaining a 6-4 advantage. Park Sang-won was replaced after allowing a solo home run to Park Dong-won in the 11th inning with one out and a runner on first. Cho Dong-uk came in and allowed a hit and a walk, threatening with the bases loaded and two outs, but struck out Ham Chang-geun to secure a one-run victory. It was his first save in his career.

Manager Kim Kyung-moon said, “Regardless of the win or loss, it was a good game. Although we faced difficult situations due to the good momentum shifting, all the players stayed focused until the end, regained the lead, and finished the game with a win. I especially want to commend Chae Eun-seong, who hit the decisive home run.”
