Brennan Johnson wore Son Heung-min's soccer shoes. He expressed his respect in his own way.

Sports Bible reported on the 27th (Korea time) that "Brennan Johnson wore Son Heung-min's signature soccer shoes 'Taeguk 7' in the final league match against Brighton," adding that "Johnson showed a look of having combined his own name 'John' over the 'Son' inscription on the side of the soccer shoes to make it 'Johnson.'"

Johnson started in the 38th round of the 2024-2025 Premier League against Brighton & Hove Albion on the 26th. Tottenham lost 1-4 and finished the Premier League with a final result of 17th.

However, Tottenham, which had already won the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United on the 22nd, played the final match of the season without much burden.

The soccer shoes Johnson wore were the 'Taeguk 7' model that Son Heung-min recently created in collaboration with Adidas. This product, based on the F50 series, features the traditional Korean pattern of Taeguk and Son Heung-min's name 'Son,' and it is the second signature soccer shoe that Son Heung-min personally participated in designing.

Johnson went beyond simply wearing Son Heung-min's soccer shoes, adding the meaning of 'respect.' By combining his own name into the shoes, he showed a sense of tribute.

Born in 2001, Johnson joined Tottenham last season for a transfer fee of 55 million euros (81.4 billion won). He faced criticism for underperforming early in the season but succeeded in bouncing back in the second half.

In particular, he emerged as a key player by scoring the winning goal in the Europa League final at the end of the season, leading Tottenham to a major tournament victory for the first time in 17 years. He recorded 18 goals and 4 assists in 51 official matches this season, proving his solid presence.

Johnson has not hidden his respect for Son Heung-min. In a past interview with the BBC, he noted, "When I was young, I looked up games by Kaká or Zinedine Zidane, but I started watching Son Heung-min's games even before coming to Tottenham. It’s still amazing how he uses both feet so well," stating that "just seeing Son Heung-min in person is an incredible experience."

He also mentioned, "Son Heung-min understands well how I approach him and the questions I ask. He must know how much I respect him," expressing respect for the relationship between seniors and juniors in the team.

Tottenham successfully returned to European competition through the victory of the Europa League title this season, and captain Son Heung-min concluded a meaningful season by lifting his first major trophy in his career.
