"The more important thing than the 100th goal is promotion to K League 1."
Incheon United achieved a 2-0 victory against Jeonnam Dragons on the 25th at the Incheon Football Stadium during the 13th round of the Hana Bank K League 2.
With this victory, Incheon surged ahead in K League 2 with 11 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss for a total of 34 points. Recently, they have been showcasing an overwhelming performance with a streak of matches without conceding a goal. Incheon has now secured 8 consecutive wins and achieved 9 victories and 1 draw out of 10 games.
Notably, Mugosa scored multiple goals, marking his 100th career goal in the K League.
After the match, Mugosa said, "I am really happy to win in front of amazing fans. I am glad to score 100 goals before reaching 200 games. I will continue to whip myself and put in the effort. I am really grateful to our fans and family. Scoring in front of the fans is always an honor. More than the record, what I am proud of is getting promoted to K League 1."
Mugosa, who completed his 100th goal with a penalty kick, said, "I don't see the difference between a field goal and a penalty kick. A goal is a goal. What matters is scoring. It's more important to score than how you score. I am really happy to score in front of the fans."
Head coach Yoon Jung-hwan congratulated Mugosa on his 100th goal but did not hide his disappointment regarding the penalty kick. Mugosa explained, "It would have been better if I had a chance to score a field goal. But I have no regrets at all. Not all of the 100 goals I scored were penalties. I am also grateful to my teammates who created those opportunities."
When asked about the teammates he remembers while achieving the '100 goals,' Mugosa showed some embarrassment.
Mugosa explained, "It's a really difficult question. Aguilar was good, and Jerso and Baro showed another class of players. They play different positions, so it's not easy to evaluate. Anyway, right now, Jerso and Baro come to mind the most."
He did not hide his goal of promotion to K League 1, saying, "We are playing with some truly amazing fans. There will definitely be difficult situations and burdensome games ahead. However, from the training camp, our goal has been promotion to K League 1. We are all doing our best with that goal in mind. We are working hard with the best coach and the best teammates. I am trying my best to follow the coach's instructions, and we are making good progress."
