Veteran middle blocker Jin Seong-tae of the OK Savings Bank Omtan volleyball team has embarked on a warm sharing initiative for the development of youth volleyball.

OK Savings Bank Omtan stated on the 25th that "Jin Seong-tae (32) donated about 2.5 million won worth of volleyball equipment to his alma mater, Gwangju Munjeong Elementary School's volleyball team."

This donation was delivered through the public corporation OK Baejeong Scholarship Foundation of the OK Financial Group and was presented during the '54th National Youth Sports Festival' boys under 12 competition.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Jeon Gap-soo, president of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Sports Council, who graced the occasion. Jin Seong-tae, who joined the OK Omtan volleyball team through a trade with Korean Air in 2024, is a product of the Gwangju region youth volleyball, having gone through Gwangju Munjeong Elementary School, Munheung Middle School, and Gwangju Electronics High School.

Since the OK Omtan rugby team, another sports team sponsored by OK Financial Group, is also based in Gwangju, Jeon Gap-soo, the president of the Gwangju Sports Council, attended to encourage the athletes.

On the 24th, Jin Seong-tae visited the Jinju Dongmyeong High School gymnasium where the Gwangju Munjeong Elementary School volleyball team played, and not only handed over equipment but also passionately cheered for the junior players while watching their match. Additionally, he contributed his skills by sharing injury prevention techniques, such as stretching and taping, for the youth players.

Jin Seong-tae said, “Hearing that my juniors at my alma mater are nurturing dreams despite poor conditions motivated me to think of ways to inspire them. Knowing well that creating an environment where the athletes can continue their training is directly linked to nurturing those dreams, I felt that support was more urgent, which led me to carry out this donation.”

He added, “As a senior, I want to find and implement various ways to give a positive influence to my juniors. I hope a virtuous cycle structure will take root within the volleyball community.”
