Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp (57) directly denied the rumor of joining AS Roma as a manager.
The British media outlet 'TalkSport' reported on the 25th (Korea time) that "Klopp will not take the helm of Roma next season" and that "Klopp, who attended a Liverpool Foundation event, showed no interest at all in returning to coaching."
Italian local media recently reported that Klopp, who is currently serving as the global head of football for the Red Bull Group, would succeed Claudio Ranieri as the manager of Roma.
'Roma Press' reported on the 19th that "Klopp and Roma have agreed on the appointment of the manager. On the 18th at 10:57 p.m., Klopp sent the final OK sign to owner Dan Friedkin," suggesting that an official announcement was a matter of time.
However, the report was not true. Klopp personally stepped up and strongly denied, saying, "I am not going to Roma. If I hear talk about becoming a manager in the next few years, that will all be nonsense."
Klopp's agent, Mark Coisick, also denied, saying, "The talk of going to Roma is not true."
The British 'The Sun' also reported on the 20th that "there is absolutely no possibility of Klopp taking over as manager of Roma." European transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also conveyed the same news through his social media account on the 20th.
Klopp stepped down from managing Liverpool at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Since then, he has been active in a new role at the Red Bull Group starting in January.
He indicated that he would not take on a managerial role for the time being, stating, "I felt drained of energy" when he left Liverpool.
Klopp was mentioned as a candidate for the head coach of the national teams of Germany and the United States last summer, but ultimately shifted his direction towards administration instead of the field. He signed a contract with Red Bull until 2030.
