Professional baseball KIA Tigers infielder Park Chan-ho has taken on the role of temporary captain. Thanks to manager Lee Beom-ho, he received a new uniform featuring the captain's 'C' mark.
This season's appointed captain, Na Sung-bum, has been sidelined due to a right calf muscle injury. Instead of Na Sung-bum, Kim Sun-bin, who was appointed as temporary captain, has also been removed from the first-team roster due to a left calf muscle injury. As a result, Park Chan-ho will assume the role of temporary captain starting on the 22nd against Suwon KT Wiz.
Park Chan-ho demonstrated exceptional leadership from the very first day of his appointment as captain. After a series of errors in the first inning, he gathered the players and encouraged them, saying, "Let's do our best in areas we can control." A club official noted, "It was impressive to see Park Chan-ho gather the players and reassure them."
On the 23rd, head coach Son Seung-rak presented Park Chan-ho with a new uniform ahead of the Daegu Samsung Lions game. The new uniform had the captain's 'C' emblazoned on it. This was a consideration from manager Lee Beom-ho for Park Chan-ho, who has taken on the temporary captain role.
Receiving his new uniform, Park Chan-ho smiled awkwardly but ignited his determination to do well. Ahead of the game that day, he gathered both the position players and pitchers to vow for victory.
Meanwhile, KIA set up its starting lineup with shortstop Park Chan-ho, second baseman Yoon Do-hyun, third baseman Kim Do-young, designated hitter Choi Hyung-woo, first baseman Oh Sun-woo, left fielder Kim Seok-hwan, right fielder Lee Woo-sung, catcher Kim Tae-gun, and center fielder Park Jung-woo. The starting pitcher is James Neill.
