Jude Bellingham (22, Real Madrid) is expected to miss at least six weeks after the start of next season to undergo shoulder surgery.

The British 'BBC' reported on the 21st (Korean time) that "Jude Bellingham is scheduled to undergo surgery due to a shoulder injury after the Club World Cup, and will miss both the preseason and the early part of next season during the recovery period."

According to reports, Bellingham has been playing with chronic shoulder pain that has persisted since 2023. The injury first worsened during a match against Rayo Vallecano last year, which caused him to miss two matches each with Real Madrid and the England national team. Despite this, Bellingham has continued to play in club and national team matches with his shoulder taped.

Real Madrid has set the end of the Club World Cup as the time for surgery. This tournament, expanded to 32 teams, is scheduled to take place from June 15 to July 13, based on local time in the United States.

The BBC noted that "as a result, Bellingham will miss the entire summer preseason and focus on recovery for at least six weeks after the start of the season. This means he may also miss England's World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for September against Andorra and Serbia."

Meanwhile, England national team manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to announce the roster for the June international matches (against Andorra and a friendly against Senegal) this Friday, but the participation of those expected to play in the Club World Cup remains uncertain.

In his first season after transferring to Real Madrid, Bellingham contributed to the La Liga and Champions League victories with performances worthy of a transfer fee of £115 million (approximately 2.8 trillion won), scoring 23 goals in 43 matches and making a strong impression on Spanish soil.

Despite an increased number of appearances this season, his goal tally has decreased. He recorded 14 goals in a total of 52 matches, and Real Madrid lost the La Liga title to Barcelona while being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Champions League by Arsenal.

Real Madrid will start the 2025-2026 season without Bellingham.
