The Korea Football Association announced on the 22nd that it has finalized the list of the newly formed referee committee to enhance the advancement and fairness of the refereeing field for 2025 and will begin full-fledged activities.
The Chairperson of the referee committee will be Moon Jin-hee, as announced during the appointment of the 55th executive committee last month. Chairperson Moon served as a professional referee and held the position of referee committee chairperson from 2021 to 2022. The Vice Chairperson will be Choi Soo-jin, a female referee with international officiating experience, who will support the chairperson's duties.
The committee has been structured with a total of 13 members, including Chairperson Moon Jin-hee and Vice Chairperson Choi Soo-jin, with main goals including ▲ improving the quality of referee education ▲ acquiring specialized personnel from various fields ▲ establishing an evaluation system that meets international standards. In particular, various external experts from legal, medical, and media fields have been appointed to establish a foundation for improving the image of refereeing activities, expanding external communication, and promoting a culture of respect for referees.
The committee is expected to operate by subdividing functions based on key tasks such as education, allocation, evaluation, and management, and will also promote an expansion of field-centered training for professional and amateur referees, as well as the establishment of a VAR and academy education system.
The newly confirmed referee committee plans to set policy directions through regular meetings and initiate effective institutional improvements that reflect the voices from the field.
Chairperson Moon Jin-hee said, "We have formed the committee with experts from various fields to regain the trust of referees, establish fair game management, and sustain institutional improvements," adding, "We will actively gather voices from the field and implement effective policies."
