The professional baseball SSG Landers plunged Doosan Bears into a 5-game losing streak while achieving a 4-game winning streak.

SSG won the away game against Doosan in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium, 9-1.

Starting pitcher Drew Anderson recorded an impressive performance with 6 innings of 5 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts, which earned him his 4th win of the season (2 losses), while Choi Ji-hoon swung a hot bat with 3 hits. Jung Joon-jae also contributed with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

With their recent 4-game winning streak, SSG secured a winning series and maintained their 4th place with a record of 24 wins, 22 losses, and 1 tie. Doosan, who suffered their 5th consecutive loss, held a record of 19 wins, 27 losses, and 2 ties.

Anderson's outstanding performance shone. In the bottom of the first inning, after one out and runners on first and second, Anderson executed a double play against Yang Eui-ji to escape from a jam. In the second inning, with two outs and runners on first and second, he also handled Jo Soo-hyung's ground ball to shortstop without allowing any runs. In the fourth inning, he created a 'KKK' inning and built momentum with consecutive three-up, three-down innings, finishing the bottom of the fifth by handling Jo Soo-hyung's ground ball into a double play with one out and a runner on first base.

In the sixth inning, with two outs and runners on first and second, he struck out Kim Jae-hwan with a curveball hitting the upper outer zone, completing six innings without allowing a run. He effectively utilized his fastball in the mid-150 km/h range, curveball, and changeup. Anderson, who achieved his 5th quality start of the season, lowered his earned run average from 2.32 to 2.08.

SSG's lineup also supported Anderson. In the top of the second inning, they scored 3 runs against Doosan's starting pitcher Choi Min-seok. After two outs, Choi Jun-woo walked, followed by Ahn Sang-hyun obtaining a walk to set up runners on first and second. Then, SSG took the lead with Jung Joon-jae's timely hit to right field. With two outs and runners on first and third, they added another run with a double steal, as runner Jung Joon-jae advanced to second while runner Ahn Sang-hyun scored from third base.

In the continued situation with two outs and runners on second, Doosan's defensive error added another run. Choi Ji-hoon's ground ball slipped through the legs of Doosan's first baseman Yang Seok-hwan, expanding SSG's lead to 3-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, against the changed pitcher Park Jung-soo, Choi Ji-hoon hit a single to right field, followed by consecutive walks from Park Sung-han and Choi Jeong, creating a bases-loaded opportunity with no outs. Although Doosan changed pitchers again to Park Shin-ji, a pitch hitting the body on the first slider of Han Yu-seom brought SSG an additional run with a bases-loaded walk. Then, Choi Jun-woo's two-run single to right-center and Jung Joon-jae's one-RBI single up the middle erupted, taking SSG to a 7-0 lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, Choi Ji-hoon hit a double to right, followed by a walk from Park Sung-han, leading to Han Yu-seom's left-field one-RBI double and Ko Myung-jun's sacrifice fly to center field, solidifying their lead. Choi Ji-hoon led the SSG offense with 3 hits in 5 at-bats, while Jung Joon-jae recorded 2 hits and 2 RBIs in 4 at-bats.

Doosan's rookie starting pitcher Choi Min-seok, making his first-team debut, suffered a loss but showed promise with 4 innings of 2 hits, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts, and 3 earned runs (2 earned). In the bottom of the ninth inning, Kim In-tae, who came out as a pinch hitter, prevented a team shutout by hitting a solo home run, marking his 2nd home run of the season.
