The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (Chairman Ha Hyung-joo) cycling and racing headquarters announced that it participated in the '2nd Youth Gambling Problem Prevention Week event' held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on the 16th.

Hosted by the Integrated Supervisory Commission for Gambling Industries (hereafter referred to as the Gambling Commission), and organized by the Korea Center for Gambling Problems Prevention and Treatment (hereafter referred to as the Gambling Treatment Center), this event was jointly held with 22 related organizations, including public institutions and youth organizations, to raise awareness of the seriousness of youth gambling issues and the importance of prevention due to the increase in harmful effects of youth gambling.

This year, the cycling and racing headquarters operated various programs once again, following last year.

They operated a 'self-diagnosis experience for gambling problems' that allows youth to assess their risk levels for gambling issues, and offered on-site consultations with counselors from the Cycling and Racing Addiction Prevention Counseling Center (Hope Companion) if needed. Additionally, they conducted a 'simulated reporting experience for illegal gambling' to raise awareness of illegal gambling and to help participants learn how to report it. Meanwhile, to enhance addiction prevention and increase physical activity among youth, they also provided a virtual cycling experience, which garnered positive responses from participants.

A representative from the cycling and racing headquarters said, “With the recent development of the online environment, the risk of youth being easily exposed to gambling is increasing,” and added, “I hope this event serves as an opportunity to raise social awareness regarding youth gambling issues, and the cycling and racing headquarters will continue to strengthen the social safety net for the prevention and treatment of youth gambling addiction.”

The 'Hope Companion' is a specialized counseling center operated directly by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation's cycling and racing headquarters, providing integrated services such as prevention, counseling, treatment, and aftercare for citizens struggling with excessive immersion in gambling.
