The Lotte Giants' new foreign pitcher, Gamboa, showcased a no-hit, no-walk performance in his first game.

On the 21st, Gamboa started as the pitcher in a game against the Samsung Lions in the 2025 Futures League, held at Gyeongsan Stadium. He threw 40 pitches over 3 innings, recording 3 hits, no walks, 4 strikeouts, and no runs. Out of 40 pitches, he threw 31 strikes, demonstrating stable command.

In the first inning, he allowed an infield hit to Park Seung-kyu. He caught Yang Woo-hyun with a strikeout on a swing and faced a crisis with one out and runners on first and second after allowing a single to Yoon Jung-bin.

He caught Lee Chang-yong with a flyout to right field, allowing the runner on second base to tag up and advance to third. With two outs and runners on first and third, he got Han Su-ho out on a sharp grounder to the shortstop, escaping the scoring threat.

The second inning ended with three outs on 9 pitches. He struck out Kim Tae-keun looking and sent Park Jin-woo back with a three-pitch strikeout. Cha Seung-jun ended the inning with a groundout to the first baseman on the first pitch.

In the third inning, he struck out lead-off hitter Lee Hae-seung. After the batting order turned over, he allowed another single to Park Seung-kyu. Yang Woo-hyun's surprise bunt was caught by the first baseman and thrown to the covering second baseman for the out. With two outs and a runner on second, he dealt with Yoon Jung-bin by getting him out on a ground ball to short, maintaining the no-run game.

The Lotte Giants acquired Gamboa as a replacement player for Charlie Barnes, who was released due to a left shoulder scapula injury on the 14th, for a total of $330,000 (an annual salary of $300,000 and $30,000 in incentives). They paid the Los Angeles Dodgers a transfer fee of $100,000.

A Lotte team official noted, "At 185 cm tall and weighing 92 kg, the left-handed pitcher has ample starting experience, and his fastball, thrown from a high release point at an average of 151 km/h, is a significant advantage. He is expected to show competitiveness in the KBO League based on his fast velocity, slider, and changeup." Gamboa recently threw a sinker that reached a maximum of 96.4 mph (approximately 155.1 km/h) in Triple-A.

Gamboa entered the country on the 17th. The next day, on the 18th, he conducted about 20 bullpen pitches in front of the coaching staff and fellow players. After one day of rest, he pitched in the Futures League on the 21st.

Kim Tae-hyung, the Lotte manager, said on the 20th regarding Gamboa's upcoming schedule, "He will be going to the second team to pitch, and then he will probably be entering against Samsung or so." Lotte will play a three-game series against Samsung from the 27th to the 29th.
