Is the rumor of Hwang Hee-chan's (29, Wolverhampton) release true?

Wolverhampton lost 0-2 to Brighton & Hove Albion in the 36th round of the 2024-2025 Premier League (PL) held at Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England, on the 10th (Korean time).

Hwang Hee-chan was excluded from the lineup and did not play even a single minute. In the match against Manchester City, Hwang Hee-chan was substituted in toward the end of the second half and played for only about 5 minutes, which deprived him of any opportunity. Hwang Hee-chan had to watch his teammates suffer a loss.

It seems that Hwang Hee-chan is not part of the coach's plans. Viktor Pereira, the Wolverhampton manager, noted, "Jørgen Strand Larsen is scoring. We don’t use two strikers. There is no place for Hwang Hee-chan. It’s not easy for a striker to gain confidence if they don’t play or have little playing time. Hwang Hee-chan has also had injuries."

It seems difficult for Hwang Hee-chan to make a comeback. He was Wolverhampton's ace last season, with 12 goals and 3 assists in 29 matches, making him the team's top scorer. Achieving a career high, Hwang Hee-chan re-signed with Wolverhampton for four years during the season.

Adding to the woes, rivals are coming. Wolverhampton's ace Matheus Cunha, who has scored 15 goals this season, is rumored to be transferring to a big club. Facing an inevitable gap in strength, Wolverhampton has targeted Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott for acquisition.

"This is Anfield" reported, "There are rumors that Elliott will transfer to Wolverhampton this summer. Liverpool is expected to demand £50 million (about 92.9 billion won) for Elliott's transfer."

With his playing time already reduced, Hwang Hee-chan will have even less space if rivals are acquired. The rumor of his release feels even more painful.
