Jeonbuk Hyundai's momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
On the afternoon of the 17th, Jeonbuk defeated FC Anyang 2-0 in a home game at Jeonju World Cup Stadium during the Hana Bank K League 1 2025 Round 14.
With the additional 3 points, Jeonbuk recorded 28 points (8 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses, 20 goals), matching the leader Daejeon Hana Citizen (28 points, 21 goals) but remained in second place due to a weaker goal difference. On the other hand, Anyang stood at 17 points (5 wins, 2 draws, 8 losses) in 7th place.
Jeonbuk scored the first goal in the 12th minute of the first half. Jeon Jin-woo exchanged passes with Song Min-kyu, who penetrated from the side, and he finished inside the box, giving his team the lead. After that, Jeonbuk effectively blocked Anyang's attacks and aimed for an additional goal on the counterattack.
The additional goal also came from Jeon Jin-woo. In the 36th minute of the first half, Jeon Jin-woo received a pass from Kim Jin-kyu during a counterattack and completed a multi-goal with a left-footed shot inside the box, widening the score gap.
From the early moments of the second half, both teams made numerous substitutions. Jeonbuk brought in Thiago instead of Compagno and Lee Seung-woo instead of Song Min-kyu, while Anyang substituted Kang Ji-hun, Choi Kyu-hyun, and Chae Hyun-woo for Yago, Lee Min-soo, and Kim Bo-kyung.
Starting from the middle of the second half, Anyang actively sought to score. Thomas and Mateus attempted long-range shots in succession, but were blocked by Jeonbuk goalkeeper Song Bum-keun. Jeonbuk maintained its defensive focus, thwarting Anyang's relentless attacks, and ultimately secured the win by holding on to the 2-0 lead.
Coach Poit aimed to focus on defense after quickly scoring the first goal in this match, while actively seeking counterattacks whenever opportunities arose.
Here, Jeon Jin-woo shone. After exchanging passes with Song Min-kyu in the 12th minute, Jeon Jin-woo scored the opening goal with a calm shot and added an additional goal with a perfect left-foot finish during a counterattack in the 36th minute.
Thanks to Jeon Jin-woo's outstanding performance, Jeonbuk finished the first half leading 2-0 and displayed stable game management in the second half. Although a few long-range shots were allowed, goalkeeper Song Bum-keun safely blocked them. In the 45th minute of the second half, Jeonbuk substituted Yeon Jae-woon for Jeon Jin-woo. Jeon Jin-woo received applause from the 21,021 spectators who attended the match as he left the field early.
Once again, Jeonbuk added 3 points through sharp attacks and fluid game management, officially entering the championship race.
Continuing their upward trend, Jeonbuk is now intensifying preparations for the away match against Jeju on the 23rd.
