All five games, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the 16th in the 2025 KBO league, were canceled due to rain: KT Wiz-LG Twins (Jamsil), Doosan Bears-KIA Tigers (Gwangju), SSG Landers-Hanwha Eagles (Daejeon), Samsung Lions-Lotte Giants (Sajik), and Kiwoom Heroes-NC Dinos (Ulsan).

The safety inspection at Changwon NC Park has been prolonged, causing NC to announce that its first home game in Ulsan has been postponed by a day.

Rain began to fall in the metropolitan area from the morning, and heavy downpours were also reported in the southern regions. Although the rain briefly stopped in the afternoon, it continued to fall nationwide.

The five games canceled that day will be played as a doubleheader at the same venues on the 17th. The KBO announced that from April 18 this season, if games are canceled on Fridays and Saturdays, doubleheaders will be scheduled (no doubleheaders will be arranged from June 2 to August 31). If a Friday game is canceled, a doubleheader will be arranged for Saturday; if a Saturday game is canceled, a doubleheader will be arranged for Sunday.

The eight teams, excluding Hanwha and Kiwoom, will engage in a demanding schedule of doubleheaders for two consecutive weeks. LG and Samsung played a doubleheader in Daegu on the 10th (Saturday). On the 11th (Sunday), KIA-SSG (Incheon), Lotte-KT (Suwon), and NC-Doosan (Jamsil) also played doubleheaders.

With the rescheduling to doubleheaders, some teams have changed their starting pitchers for the first game on the 17th.

LG has announced that Son Ju-young will remain the starting pitcher for the first game of the doubleheader. KT has replaced its starting pitcher for the first game from Cuevas to Oh Won-seok.

Doosan will have Colerbin as the starting pitcher for the first game after taking a five-day rest instead of rookie Hong Min-kyu. KIA will have Nail remain as the starting pitcher for the first game.

Lotte has announced that it will start Park Se-woong, the top winner, instead of Lee Min-seok for the first game, while Samsung will continue to feature foreign pitcher Reyes as the starting pitcher for the first game.

NC has changed its starting pitcher for the first game from Choi Seong-young to foreign ace Logan, while Kiwoom will keep Kim Sun-ki as the starting pitcher for the first game.

Hanwha will have Ponce, and SSG will feature Kim Kwang-hyun as no changes for the head-to-head match in the first game of the doubleheader on the 17th.
