Pittsburgh Pirates' Paul Skins (23) pitched well but failed in his quest for his fourth win of the season. Bae Ji-hwan (26) scored the tying run as a pinch runner, but the team suffered a walk-off loss.

Pittsburgh lost 4-3 to the New York Mets at Citi Field in New York, New York, on the 13th (Korea time).

Starting pitcher Paul Skins delivered a strong performance, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks, striking out 6 and allowing 1 run over 6 innings, but the bullpen squandered the win. He threw 92 pitches, with a maximum fastball speed reaching 99.2 mph (159.6 km/h). The bullpen, comprising Caleb Ferguson (2/3 innings, 2 runs), Colin Holderman (1 1/3 innings, no runs), and David Bednar (1/3 inning, 1 run), failed to secure the team’s victory.

Pittsburgh's starting lineup included Ke'Bryan Hayes (third base), Bryan Reynolds (right field), Andrew McCutchen (left field), Joey Bart (designated hitter), Matt Gorski (first base), Isaiah Kainer-Falefa (shortstop), Alexander Canario (second base), Jared Triolo (second base), and Henry Davis (catcher). Kainer-Falefa hit his first home run of the season and had a multi-hit performance, but it did not prevent the team's loss. Bae Ji-hwan scored the tying run as a pinch runner, but the team's defeat dulled the achievement.

Mets starting pitcher David Peterson threw 6 innings, allowing 5 hits (1 home run), 3 walks, striking out 7 and allowing 2 runs. Jose Butto (1 inning, no runs), Dedniel Nunez (1 inning, no runs), and Huasker Bracho (1 inning, 1 run, unearned) followed in the bullpen and secured the win.

The Mets' starting lineup featured Francisco Lindor (shortstop), Juan Soto (right field), Pete Alonso (first base), Brandon Nimmo (left field), Mark Vientos (designated hitter), Jeff McNeil (center field), Francisco Alvarez (catcher), Matt Beaty (third base), and Luisangel Acuña (second base). Lindor and Vientos contributed with multi-hit performances.

Pittsburgh managed to get two outs in the first inning with McCutchen and Bart drawing walks, but Gorski struck out.

Skins allowed a hit to lead-off hitter Lindor in the bottom of the first and walked Soto. However, he induced a 6-4-3 double play from Alonso and struck out Nimmo for a 1st and 2nd base situation with no outs.

Pittsburgh took the lead in the second inning with a solo home run from Kainer-Falefa. Skins also allowed a lead-off hit to Vientos in the bottom of the second but caught McNeil out in shallow center. After walking Alvarez, he struck out Beaty and caught Acuña on a ground ball to shortstop.

Skins, who had a three-up, three-down inning in the third, faced a no-out situation in the fourth, allowing a double to lead-off hitter Nimmo. Although he struck out Vientos, he allowed a one-run double to McNeil, bringing the score to 1-1. Both Alvarez and Beaty were caught on easy outs.

In the fifth inning, Skins recorded an out against lead-off hitter Acuña with a pop fly. He allowed a hit to Lindor but escaped the jam by striking out both Soto and Alonso. In the sixth inning, with one out, he found himself in a 1st and 2nd base situation again after a double from Vientos and a walk to McNeil, but induced a 6-4-3 double play from Alvarez to escape the threat unscathed.

Pittsburgh created a scoring opportunity in the top of the seventh with a walk and stolen base from lead-off hitter Triolo, putting a runner on second with no outs. Davis struck out, but in the next at-bat, Triolo advanced to third due to a pitch clock violation by the pitcher. Hayes drew a walk, and Reynolds grounded out to the shortstop, with the runner at first getting out at second but the runner at third scoring to regain a 2-1 lead.

The Mets' Tyron Taylor reached second base with a hit-by-pitch and a stolen base in the bottom of the seventh. Acuña got a hit, and although Lindor struck out, Soto tied the game with a one-run advance. Subsequently, Alonso hit a one-run timely hit that turned the game around.

In the ninth inning, Pittsburgh's lead-off hitter Canario got a hit, and Pittsburgh sent in pinch runner Bae Ji-hwan. Triolo reached first on an error by shortstop Lindor, and Davis advanced the runners with a sacrifice bunt to create a 1 out, 2nd and 3rd base situation. Hayes hit a one-run infield single to tie the game at 3-3, but Reynolds grounded into a 4-6-3 double play, failing to take the lead.

The Mets' Lindor reached base due to a fielding error by the shortstop in the bottom of the ninth with one out, and Soto got a hit to create a 1 out, 1st and 3rd base opportunity. Alonso ended the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly.
