The Korea Dance Sports Federation announced that the "2025 Breaking K Series Round 1" will be held on the 17th at the Gabin Art Hall in Samsung-dong, Seoul.
The Breaking K Series and Finals, hosted and organized by KFD, aim to expand the base of breaking in South Korea and select representatives for the national team, with Shinhan Financial Group participating as the presenting sponsor and Nike as a supporter.
This year's Breaking K Series will feature fierce competition from the start, as the final tournament held at the end of the year will select athletes for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. To compete in the Breaking K Finals, one must rank within the top 16 based on cumulative ranking points from the Series 1 and 2 winners.
The importance of the tournament does not stop here. The Breaking men's event will be introduced as a demonstration event for the first time at the 106th National Sports Festival to be held in Busan this October, which is why most city and provincial federations plan to select athletes for the National Sports Festival based on the results of the 2025 Breaking K Series Round 1.
The general competition of this tournament will feature top players such as silver medalist at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and a participant in the 2024 Paris Olympics Kim Hong-yeol (Hong10), current national team b-boys Kim Jong-ho (32, Leon), Choi Jung-woo (31, Millie), Hong Seong-sik (41, Noodle), b-girls Kwon Seong-hee (29, Starry), Kim Ye-ri (25, Yell), Jeon Ji-ye (26, Freshbella), among others, who will all put on a fierce stage.
Additionally, the b-boy elementary, middle, and high school divisions and the b-girl youth division will also take place, where the next generation of talented youngsters leading the future of breaking in South Korea will showcase their styles and skills in front of many fans.
KFD Chairman Kang Il-seong noted, "With major international competitions such as the World Games, Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, and Youth Olympics to be held in the future, as well as breaking events being included as demonstration sports from this year in the National Sports Festival, the stage for athletes is gradually expanding. Please keep an eye on the performances of our breaking athletes as they leap to the next stage and lend your support."
