In his second year of competition, two-handed bowler Seo Jeong-min (23, Gimhae City Sports Council) smiled broadly at a tournament with the highest prize money ever.

Seo Jeong-min defeated Choi Jeong-woo (Daegu Buk-gu Office) 269-214 in the finals of the 2025 Inca Financial Super Bowling International Open TV Finals held at Boltopia in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on the afternoon of the 13th.

With this, Seo Jeong-min not only secured a professional title in his first international open tournament but also claimed a prize of 100 million won. The prize of 100 million won is the largest ever in bowling tournaments.

Having picked up a bowling ball since his third year of high school, Seo Jeong-min has only six years of experience, including three years in college. He has no national team experience, and winning a gold medal at last year's National Sports Festival (5-player team) is his greatest achievement.

However, on this day, Seo Jeong-min showcased nearly perfect form against veteran players from professional bowling (Korea Professional Bowling Association (KPBA)) and American Professional Bowling (PBA).

Seo Jeong-min took the lead after covering the first frame and had five consecutive strikes through the sixth frame. He momentarily halted his strike run by leaving the 7 pin in the seventh frame, but Seo Jeong-min struck five more times consecutively from the eighth frame to the end, sealing his victory.

Seo Jeong-min also had some luck on his side. His opponent, Choi Jeong-woo, who had begun with five consecutive strikes from the first frame, faltered by leaving the 2 and 10 pins in the sixth frame and failing to cover them, giving Seo Jeong-min the momentum. A flustered Choi Jeong-woo made a poor shot in the eighth frame, leaving six pins and ultimately self-destructing.

Notably, Seo Jeong-min also defeated his idol, American two-handed bowler Anthony Simonson, in the third-place match. Simonson finished fifth in the qualifiers but showed strong performance by defeating Mun Ha-young (Storm) and Koo Seong-hwa (Busan Metropolitan City Office) in the shootout.

Seo Jeong-min scored 279 against Simonson. He displayed remarkable performance, leaving only one pin standing in the first shot of the 10th frame out of 12 throws. Simonson scored 258 points after leaving one pin in both his fourth frame and the first shot of his 10th frame, but he couldn't surpass Seo Jeong-min.

After the match, Seo Jeong-min remarked, "I still can't believe it. Although others say I didn’t seem nervous, I was really quite anxious. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to stand here."

He continued, "Winning against my idol, Simonson, was a stroke of luck. Just watching him bowl would elicit gasps. I still can’t believe it; it doesn’t feel real. People come up to congratulate me."
