The professional baseball KIA Tigers fell to 8th place after losing both games in a doubleheader against the SSG Landers.

KIA lost 1-5 in the second game of the doubleheader against SSG at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 11th. After losing the first game of the doubleheader 4-8, they lost both games. In the first game, their ace Neil, whom they relied on, collapsed, giving up 7 runs, and in the second game, the bullpen self-destructed by allowing 3 walks.

In the second game, starting pitcher Yang Hyun-jong pitched perfectly until the middle of the game. He allowed the leadoff batter Choi Ji-hoon to reach base on a walk in the 1st inning. After catching Park Sung-han with a fly ball to left field, he allowed the runner on first base to steal second. The runner on second was tagged out in a run-down situation on Choi Jeong's ground ball to second base. He struck out McBroom with a 144 km/h fastball for a Samjin to end the inning.

In the 2nd inning, he struck out Go Myung-jun with a 145 km/h fastball for a Samjin, and after two outs, he struck out Kim Soo-yoon with a 133 km/h slider. In the 3rd inning, he allowed a leadoff hit to Shin Beom-soo, but caught Chae Hyun-woo with a fly ball and continued his scoreless inning with back-to-back Samjin strikeouts of Choi Ji-hoon and Park Sung-han.

In the 4th inning, he retired the side with three fly balls, and in the 5th inning, he finished the inning with a ground ball to first and two fly balls to right field.

However, a crisis arose in the 6th inning. He allowed a triple down the right field line to leadoff batter Chae Hyun-woo. There was some disappointment in the outfielder's judgment on the ball. With no outs and a runner on third, he allowed Choi Ji-hoon’s sacrifice fly to left field, tying the game 1-1.

He then allowed a hit to Park Sung-han, and after issuing a straight walk to Choi Jeong, who was aiming for his 500th career home run, there were runners on first and second with one out. At this point, the pitching coach from the KIA bench came out to announce a pitcher change. Yang Hyun-jong was replaced after 79 pitches.

KIA brought in Jeon Sang-hyun as a relief pitcher to replace Yang Hyun-jong. He allowed a hit to McBroom, creating a crisis with one out and the bases loaded. SSG used Han Yoo-seom as a pinch hitter against Go Myung-jun. Jeon Sang-hyun walked Han Yoo-seom, allowing a 1-2 reversal. With Kim Chan-hyung at bat, Choi Jun-woo came in as a pinch hitter and hit a timely single to left field. The score became 1-3, and the crisis with the bases loaded continued.

KIA replaced pitcher Jeon Sang-hyun with Choi Ji-min. However, Choi Ji-min's control was also poor. He allowed a walk on the fifth pitch against Kim Sung-hyun and a walk on the fourth pitch against Shin Beom-soo. The score difference had now increased to 1-5.

KIA replaced the pitcher again with Lee Jun-young. Lee Jun-young struck out Chae Hyun-woo, and caught Choi Ji-hoon with a fly ball to right field, preventing further scoring. However, the momentum and atmosphere shifted to SSG. KIA self-destructed, allowing 3 runs only through walks. The bullpen's control issues were critical. Afterward, KIA's batting lineup managed only one walk in the 8th inning and one walk in the 9th inning, failing to score.

In the first game of the doubleheader, ace Neil collapsed, giving up 7 runs on 8 hits over 4 innings. Neil had struggled against SSG last year, and he was hit hard again in their first matchup this year. This was the first time in his KBO league career that Neil allowed 7 earned runs. The second game fell apart due to the bullpen's control issues.
