KIA Tigers pitcher Jeong Hae-young is poised to achieve the all-time youngest 5 seasons with 10 saves each.
As of May 10, Jeong has recorded 9 saves in 16 games, leaving him just 1 save shy of becoming the 10th player in history to achieve 5 consecutive seasons with 10 saves.
Jeong recorded his first save in the doubleheader's second game against KT at his home stadium in Gwangju on Aug. 30, 2020, his debut season. Starting in the 2021 season, his second year, he took on the role of the team's closer, achieving 34 saves and establishing himself as a key member of the bullpen.
Later, on Apr. 24, 2024, he also set the record for the youngest player to reach 100 saves at the age of 22 years, 8 months, and 1 day during a game against Kiwoom.
The previous record holder for the youngest player to achieve 5 consecutive seasons with 10 saves was Ko Woo-seok (formerly of LG), who achieved this at the age of 25 in the 2023 season. If Jeong, approaching the age of 24 this year, achieves this record, he will break the youngest record.
