Professional baseball player Hanwha Eagles' Moon Hyun-bin (21) swung a fierce bat, leading Hanwha to its first 10-game winning streak in 26 years.

Hanwha clinched a comeback victory of 7-5 against the Kiwoom Heroes in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 9th, continuing their 10-game winning streak.

It has been 26 years since Hanwha achieved a 10-game winning streak, last recording one from Sept. 24, 1999, when they won the Korean Series, to Oct. 5 against Samsung. After a recent eight-game winning streak followed by two losses, they have now recorded an outstanding performance with 18 wins and 2 losses over the last 20 games. The season record stands at 25 wins and 13 losses, a .658 winning percentage, widening the gap with second-place LG (23 wins and 14 losses, .622 winning percentage) to 1.5 games.

Moon Hyun-bin started as the designated hitter in the third spot, achieving 2 hits from 5 at-bats, including 1 home run, 3 RBIs, 1 run scored, and 1 walk, playing a pivotal role in the team's victory. In his first at-bat, Moon reached base on a hit by pitch and, in the top of the third inning with Hanwha trailing 0-2, he hit a 1-RBI clutch single to score a run.

With Hanwha trailing 3-4 in the 7th inning and one out, Moon Hyun-bin stepped up to the plate for his fourth at-bat and hit a 1-RBI sacrifice fly, tying the game at 4-4. In the 9th inning, with two outs, he launched a comeback solo home run, turning the game around. It was his 7th home run of the season. Thanks to Moon Hyun-bin's outstanding performance, Hanwha won 7-5 and achieved a 10-game winning streak.

In a post-game interview, Moon Hyun-bin reflected on the moment of his home run, stating, “In my last at-bat, I was just trying to connect with (No) Si-hwan. It was still the 9th inning, and it’s not over until it’s over. Seeing that the closer seemed to focus on fastballs, I aimed for a fastball. Fortunately, a forkball came in, and I was lucky to make contact. I thought it might not go over as it barely hit the end of the bat, but thankfully it went over, and I felt relieved.”

“(Kim) Seo-hyun is doing really well, so I thought if we could just score, we could win,” Moon Hyun-bin said. “It felt like I would win after hitting the home run.” He added, “It’s more about the uplifting atmosphere than the pressure. Even if we give up runs, the seniors give us the courage to keep pushing until the end, raising the spirits. Thanks to that, we were able to achieve a 10-game winning streak,” noting, “It’s true that I’m conscious of the winning streak, but I try not to think about it too much.”

With a smile, Moon Hyun-bin expressed, “Even when we’re losing, it feels like we’re not actually losing. There’s always a feeling that we can stage a comeback. We’re playing with the mindset that we can win if we just keep going. Even today, despite being hit by five home runs, I didn’t feel like we were going to lose. The atmosphere remained good.”

Hanwha is achieving better results this season than any year before. Moon Hyun-bin expressed confidence, stating, “This year, without a doubt, we can go to the autumn baseball.”
