Son Heung-min (33, Tottenham) was omitted from a poster celebrating the advancement to the final created by the local community.

Tottenham Hotspur beat FK Bodø/Glimt 2-0 in the second leg of the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League for the 2024-2025 season, held at Åsmira Stadion in Bodø, Norway, on the 9th (Korea time).

Following a 3-1 win in the first leg, Tottenham, overwhelming with a total of 5-1, heads to the final stage in Bilbao, Spain.

The match was held in the extreme cold of the Arctic Circle, with artificial turf and the absence of Son Heung-min and James Maddison, but Tottenham remained unfazed. From the beginning, they interrupted Bodø's buildup with high pressure and managed the game stably without conceding any goals.

The first half ended 0-0 without either team creating decisive chances. In the second half, Tottenham made changes with substitutions and seized the momentum. In the 63rd minute, during a corner kick, Cristian Romero headed the ball down, and Dominic Solanke dove to finish, scoring the opening goal.

Six minutes later, luck was on their side. A cross from Pedro Porro accidentally hit the opposite goalpost and was sucked into the net, marking the second goal. Porro celebrated with a 'dart celebration' for his injured teammate Maddison, dedicating the goal to him.

With this, Tottenham will face Manchester United in the final. Along with Son Heung-min's first career title, Tottenham can aim for their first trophy in 17 years and a Champions League ticket.

After the match, Tottenham released manager Ange Postecoglou's locker room speech on the official website. Postecoglou began by praising the players, saying, "I have been in this industry for a long time and have experienced a lot. But I am really proud of how you have stuck together until the end."

He said, "Not once did I feel that anyone inside had lost faith or given up on what we had. That is truly remarkable. People will never know how much you have endured to stand here right now. You all deserve every bit of praise."

He continued, "You did incredibly well, it’s hard to believe. To come to such a difficult place and win so comfortably. There have been so many events leading to this moment. There are those who are not here today; those at home played a big role too."

He emphasized, "Fraser Forster, Son Heung-min, Maddison, Lucas Beerveld, Radu Dragusin... everyone played an essential role in this journey. Everyone contributed, and that’s the most important reason we could come this far."

Unlike the manager, who directly mentioned Son Heung-min, the local news outlet 'SpursWeb', which primarily covers Tottenham, omitted Son Heung-min from the poster celebrating advancement to the final. The poster posted by the community on social media included starting players such as Solanke, Kulusevski, and Johnson, along with manager Postecoglou and injured Maddison and Lucas Beerveld. However, the team's captain, Son Heung-min, was left out.

What left a bigger disappointment was that this poster was not just an image. The community tagged the personal social media accounts of the players who appeared in the image. However, Son Heung-min was also omitted from this list, while Maddison and Beerveld were included in the tagging list, making the disappointment even greater.

Son Heung-min has been out for seven consecutive official matches due to a foot injury. Nevertheless, he led the team as captain throughout the season, participating in over 40 matches, including all games from the group stage to the quarterfinals of the Europa League. However, this scene that occurred before the final stage left another bittersweet memory for fans.

In response, fans raised the issue of Son Heung-min's omission by commenting on the social media post, "SpursWeb is even a 'Son Heung-min hater' on this social media. They included all players except the captain in the picture."
