The professional baseball Kiwoom Heroes achieved the first-ever five consecutive sellouts in the club's history.
Kiwoom reported on the 9th that "All 16,000 seats were sold out at 7:36 p.m. today for the game against the Hanwha Eagles in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' held at Gocheok Sky Dome. This is the fifth sellout of the season and the fifth consecutive sellout in recent games."
After recording the first sellout of the season on the 1st against Lotte, Kiwoom also achieved sellouts in all three games against KIA held from the 5th to the 7th in celebration of Children's Day. By achieving a sellout in this game, Kiwoom successfully recorded five consecutive sellouts for the first time in the club's history. The previous record was four consecutive sellouts achieved in June 2013 while using Mokdong Baseball Stadium (12,500 seats) as their home stadium, from the game against Samsung on June 6 to the game against KIA on June 9.
Kiwoom has recorded a total attendance of 238,687 this season, with an average attendance of 10,849.
The KBO League had all three games in the metropolitan area (Jamsil, Incheon, Suwon) and the game in Daegu canceled due to rain falling nationwide. The only place where games are being held is the dome stadium, Gocheok Dome. As a result, baseball fans have focused their attention on the game between Kiwoom and Hanwha. Hanwha is challenging for a 10-game winning streak for the first time in 26 years since 1999, making the interest even hotter.
As of the end of the 4th inning, Kiwoom leads 4-1. In the bottom of the 1st inning, Song Seong-mun hit a leadoff home run on the first pitch, and Lee Joo-hyung, who returned from the second team, also celebrated his return to the first team with a solo home run. In the 4th inning, Kim Tae-jin hit his second consecutive home run, and Yasiel Puig launched back-to-back home runs.
Hanwha starting pitcher Eom Sang-baek left the mound after recording 3⅔ innings, allowing five hits (four home runs), two walks, two strikeouts, and four earned runs. Kiwoom starting pitcher Ha Young-min has held the opposition to one earned run through the 4th inning and is still on the mound.
