Kukkiwon held an official event on the 7th at its main building in Gangnam, Seoul, to appoint singer and broadcaster Jin Mi-ryeong as the promotional ambassador.
Jin Mi-ryeong, a representative female singer of South Korea, has been loved by the public with numerous hit songs such as 'Girl and the Streetlamp', 'White Dandelion', and 'Love is Not for Everyone' since her debut in the 1970s. Recently, she has been building a positive image by communicating with a wide range of generations through broadcasting activities and social contribution activities.
Kukkiwon highly valued Jin Mi-ryeong's warm popularity and consistent social contributions, deeming her as an appropriate figure to widely promote the cultural value of Taekwondo and Kukkiwon's vision.
Jin Mi-ryeong expressed her feelings upon her appointment, saying, "Taekwondo is the pride of our nation and a global sport that people around the world can participate in, which will add value to South Korea's national cultural heritage." The appointment ceremony took place in the presence of the Kukkiwon president, executives, the Taekwondo demonstration team, and media officials. The welcome performance by the Taekwondo demonstration team was a specially prepared program to commemorate the appointment of promotional ambassador Jin Mi-ryeong, showcasing the dynamism and beauty of Taekwondo.
