Players are disappearing figuratively from the edge of a cliff.
The British 'Talk Sports' reported on the 5th (Korean time), "It seems Madison will no longer be able to participate this season," adding, "If Madison undergoes surgery, a long absence is unavoidable. The exact condition is expected to be determined within 24 hours. Essentially, his season is over ahead of the return leg of Tottenham's UEL semifinal on the 9th."
European football transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano also noted through his social media account, "Madison's season may be over. There are concerns that the knee injury is serious," citing the report from 'Talk Sports.'
Currently, Tottenham has only three games remaining in the Premier League. With the final match at home on the 26th, there are only three weeks left until the end of the season, making Madison's recovery time-critical.
Madison started in the first leg of the UEL semifinals against Norway's Bodo/Glimt on the 2nd. He contributed to the team's 3-1 victory by scoring an additional goal in the 34th minute of the first half, but suddenly complained of pain and was substituted in the 18th minute of the second half. Dominic Solanke also sustained an injury in this match.
Both players missed the league match against West Ham that ended early on the 5th. Coach Ange Postecoglou also expressed concerns about Madison's condition after the match. He explained, "Solanke shows positive signs, but I'm worried about Madison. We're waiting for accurate information."
Tottenham is currently pinning all its hopes on winning the UEL. The team is staying in 16th place in the league, recording the worst performance.
Tottenham wants to continue conquering the European stage, but with Madison sidelined and Son Heung-min also out for six consecutive matches due to a foot injury, concerns for Tottenham are mounting.
Son Heung-min has not played since the UEL quarterfinal second leg against Frankfurt on the 11th of last month. He also watched the first leg of the semifinals from the stands. Currently, he has started individual training to prepare for a return, but it is uncertain whether he will participate in the match on the 9th.
Tottenham and Coach Postecoglou are cautiously optimistic about Son Heung-min's recovery. Coach Postecoglou said, "Son Heung-min is getting better every day. He is still in individual training, but we are pushing for his recovery. We will decide on his participation based on the situation."
Madison is also likely to miss out. The British 'Talk Sports' reported, "It seems Madison will be out for the season due to a serious knee injury. With surgery needed, there are significant concerns about a long absence," adding, "The league may already be over, but this is a critical blow for Tottenham ahead of the Europa League."
This media outlet analyzed, "At this point, Madison's physical condition is truly at its worst. He is unlikely to return before the end of next season," adding, "He has participated in 45 matches across all competitions this season, ranking fifth for most appearances on the team. He also recorded 12 goals and 10 assists, making him one of the players with the most attacking points along with Solanke and Son Heung-min."
This Europa trophy is extremely important for Tottenham. However, with Beryval out for the season and now Madison collapsing, Tottenham will face significant challenges even if they advance past the semifinal second leg to the final. The ongoing series of injuries has put Tottenham's Europa journey in an abysmal situation, and its conclusion remains closely watched.
