LG avenged its Children's Day loss to its rival, maintaining a tie for first place.

The LG Twins of the Korea Professional Baseball League won 5-1 against the Doosan Bears in the fifth game of the season on June 6 at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium.

LG recorded 23 wins and 13 losses for the season, bouncing back from the previous day's defeat.

Starting pitcher ace Yoni Chirinos earned his fifth win (1 loss) of the season, pitching seven innings with four hits allowed, no walks, five strikeouts, and one run scored on 96 pitches. He was followed by Kim Jin-sung (one inning, no runs allowed) and Jang Hyun-sik (one inning, no runs allowed).

In the batting lineup, foreign hitter Austin Dean dominated with two hits in three at-bats (one home run), four RBIs, and one run scored. After hitting a single in the eighth inning, he collided with second baseman Kang Seung-ho while running the bases and fell to the ground, but fortunately avoided injury. To ensure player safety, LG substituted Austin.

Park Dong-won hit the game-winning home run, while Hong Chang-ki contributed with two hits in four at-bats, one walk, and two runs scored.

LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop noted after the game, “Chirinos pitched perfectly as the ace, stabilizing the team. In the batting lineup, Park Dong-won's home run changed the momentum, and in a tight game, Austin made a decisive contribution with a critical three-run homer. Congratulations to Austin for his four RBIs.”

Jamsil Stadium was filled with 23,750 seats on the last day of the holiday. Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop expressed, “Despite it being the last day of the holiday, we were able to achieve this valuable victory thanks to the support of many fans. I sincerely thank everyone on behalf of the team.”

On the 7th, LG will send Choi Chae-hung to aim for a winning series against its rival. They have pulled out a replacement starter in place of Son Joo-young, who is suffering from elbow discomfort. Doosan is expected to start Jack Log.
