The Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation (Chairman Ryu Hyun-jin) invited 20 students and teachers from the Yuchun Elementary School baseball team in Daejeon to the 'Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation Sky Box' at Daejeon Hanwha Life Eagles Park on May 5, in celebration of Children's Day, to hold an event watching a professional baseball game.
This event was planned as part of the 'Sky Club Project' operated by the Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation, with the aim of providing motivation and emotional support to youth players dreaming of becoming professional baseball players through observing a professional baseball game.
The invited students watched the game between the professional baseball Hanwha Eagles and Samsung Lions from the Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation Sky Box and received welcome gifts including a signed ball from Chairman Ryu Hyun-jin along with refreshments.
At the scene, it was impressive to see the children watching the game with bright expressions, and it was also noted that this could provide a positive stimulus beyond training.
Chairman Ryu Hyun-jin noted, 'I wanted to create an opportunity for students dreaming of becoming professional baseball players to see and feel the game up close. I hope this experience will be remembered by the children for a long time and plan to continue supporting youth programs centered around the field.'
The Ryu Hyun-jin Foundation Sky Box is operated not merely as premium seating but as a meaningful space where the donations from supporters are directly delivered to the beneficiaries, and from May to August this year, the foundation plans to further detail its youth support programs through a series of ongoing invitations for elementary, middle, and high school youth baseball players.
Meanwhile, Hanwha surged to a seven-game winning streak by defeating Samsung 3-1 on May 5. In front of a full crowd of 17,000 at their 14th home game in Daejeon, Hanwha secured a remarkable 18 wins (3 losses) out of its last 21 games. With a season record of 22 wins and 13 losses (winning percentage .629), Hanwha marked a +9 run differential.
Starting pitcher Ryan Weiss showcased a strong performance with one run allowed over seven innings and five strikeouts, claiming his fifth win of the season. Moon Hyun-bin, who faced disciplinary action for a blunder on May 4, led the attack by hitting a first-inning solo home run, going 2 for 4 with one RBI. As the first-place LG Twins lost to Doosan Bears that day, Hanwha rose to a tie for the top spot.
