The KIA Tigers secured a winning series in the three-game set on Children's Day with two consecutive victories after a three-game losing streak.

KIA won 5-3 against the Kiwoom Heroes in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' game held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 6th. With this victory, KIA achieved a two-game winning streak and secured the winning series in the three-game set for Children's Day.

The KIA lineup recorded nine hits. Han Jun-soo had a multi-hit game, and Wisdom delivered a crucial two-RBI single. Kim Kyu-sung came off the bench in the eighth inning and hit the game-winning hit.

Starting pitcher Kim Do-hyun pitched six innings, allowing four hits, three walks, striking out five, and giving up three runs, achieving a quality start (six innings with three earned runs or less). However, he did not receive any offensive support from the lineup and could not earn the win. The bullpen, consisting of Jeon Sang-hyun (⅓ inning, no runs), Lee Joon-young (⅔ inning, no runs), Jo Sang-woo (1 inning, no runs), and Jeong Hae-young (1 inning, no runs), also secured the team's victory. Jeong Hae-young earned his eighth save of the season.

In the first inning, with one out, KIA created a bases-loaded opportunity following Wisdom's walk and consecutive hits from Kim Do-young and Choi Hyung-woo. Kim Sun-bin hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run. In the bottom of the first, Kiwoom's lead-off hitters Song Seong-mun and Choi Joo-hwan both drew walks, and Cardenas hit a grounder. Puig tied the game 1-1 with an RBI groundout from second and third with one out, and Kim Tae-jin flipped the game around with an RBI single.

In the top of the second inning, KIA retaliated again. With one out, Jeong Hae-young drew a walk, and Park Jeong-woo reached on a hit by pitch. With bases loaded and one out due to Park Chan-ho's walk, Wisdom hit a two-RBI single, giving the team the lead again. In the bottom of the fifth, Kiwoom's lead-off hitter Lee Yong-kyu hit a double to create a no-out, runner on second situation. Although Song Seong-mun and Choi Joo-hwan both struck out, Cardenas hit an RBI single, bringing the game back to a tie.

In the top of the eighth inning, KIA's lead-off hitter Oh Sun-woo reached on a walk, and Han Jun-soo got a hit, creating a no-out, runners on first and second opportunity. Pinch hitter Kim Kyu-sung hit an RBI single, breaking the tight balance. Park Jeong-woo struck out, but Kim Kyu-sung successfully stole second, creating a one-out, runners on second and third opportunity, and another run was added due to a wild pitch.

KIA manager Lee Beom-ho, in a post-game interview, noted, 'It was an overall difficult game as we couldn't score in clutch situations. In the eighth inning, with no outs and runners on first and second, pinch hitter Kim Kyu-sung created a ground ball that ultimately led to the game-winning hit. It could have been a burden, but he performed his role excellently,' praising Kim Kyu-sung for creating the game-winning hit.

Manager Lee Beom-ho stated that 'Starting pitcher Kim Do-hyun struggled early on but fulfilled his role as a starter with a quality start performance.' He added, 'Lee Joon-young, who took the mound in a crisis situation, was responsible for two valuable outs. All the pitchers who took the mound today pitched well,' encouraging his pitchers. He continued, 'I thank the fans who supported us until the end, and we will do our best again tomorrow,' expressing gratitude to the fans.

Aiming for a sweep in the three-game set, KIA announced that Hwang Dong-ha will be the starting pitcher on the 7th. Kiwoom's starting pitcher will be Kenny Rosenberg.
