As senior said, I hope the Doosan Bears play with some aggression.

Veteran pitcher Ko Hyo-jun (42), who has joined the Doosan Bears, criticized his new team upon his registration with the first team on the 1st.

Ko Hyo-jun stated, 'Hussle Doo was a team that used to have aggression in the past. When we faced them as opponents, their batters and pitchers were strong and intimidating in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings. But now, that kind of attitude has disappeared. I want to take the lead and try to play with aggression myself.'

Ko Hyo-jun elaborated, 'Aggression is something like fighting spirit. It’s not merely verbal; it should come from a burning desire within us. But Doosan lacks that.' He added, 'I've thought a lot about what I need to do now that I am with the Doosan team. Looking at it objectively, Doosan needs to change. I hope the players recognize this aspect. I want to strongly appeal to those on site about this issue.'

Ko Hyo-jun mentioned 'aggression' in his meeting with Manager Lee Seung-yeop. He explained, 'I told the manager that I would show him aggression. I want to display a team that has aggression. The manager agreed and has hoped for that.'

The reason Ko Hyo-jun emphasized 'aggression' is that Doosan has lost its prestige as the first team in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) League to reach the Korean Series for seven consecutive years (2015-2021). After finishing 9th in 2022, the first in their history, Doosan made it to the postseason for two consecutive years, but in 2023, the wild card playoff ended after just one game, and they suffered a painful upset against 5th place KT Wiz after finishing 4th last year and qualifying for the wild card playoffs. Manager Lee Seung-yeop has set a goal to reach the Korean Series in his final year of contract, but currently, after playing 35 games, the team is in 8th place (15 wins, 1 draw, and 19 losses).

Jung Soo-bin, who has played for Doosan since 2009 and is a 17-year one-club man, also nodded in agreement with Ko Hyo-jun's perspective. Meeting Jung Soo-bin on the 5th in Jamsil, he said, 'Senior Ko Hyo-jun has been a player at a high level since his days with the SK Wyverns. He understands the team atmosphere well, so I agree with that assessment.' He expressed, 'I hope our Doosan plays with aggression, as Ko Hyo-jun has suggested.'

Doosan is shaking off its early struggles and is back on the rise. Following a winning series against the Samsung Lions in Daegu last weekend, they celebrated Children’s Day Derby with a victory over their rivals, the LG Twins, marking their third consecutive win in 31 days. The batting lineup, which struggled in scoring position, has recently shown signs of aggression.

Jung Soo-bin noted, 'Including myself, some of the veteran players have been talking a lot about being fierce recently. The older players are focusing more.' He added, 'Our team struggled early on, causing stress for the players and fans, but there is still plenty of opportunity for a rebound. If we start winning from now on, it will lead to good results.'
