Cohen Win (26) of the LG Twins showcased impressive pitching in his KBO League debut.

On 4th, Win started against the SSG Landers in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium, recording a victory with 6 innings, 5 hits allowed (1 home run), 1 walk, 2 strikeouts, and 3 earned runs.

After striking out lead-off batter Choi Ji-hoon and Jeong Jun-jae with flyouts, Win allowed the first run to Choi Jeong with a solo home run. However, he managed to retire Han Yu-seom with a flyout to center field.

In the second inning, after SSG came back to lead 5-1, Win threw a three-up, three-down inning and similarly kept it clean in the third inning. In the fourth inning, with one out, he hit Choi Jeong with a pitch but allowed a double to Han Yu-seom; nevertheless, he retired both Ryan McBroom and Go Myeong-jun with ground balls to third base. He concluded the fifth inning with another three-up, three-down.

In the sixth inning, Win returned to the mound and allowed a double to lead-off batter Choi Ji-hoon. Following Jeong Jun-jae's groundout, he faced Choi Jeong with a one-run single, and after allowing a double to Han Yu-seom, he gave up a one-run groundout to McBroom, resulting in 2 runs allowed. However, he retired Go Myeong-jun with a ground ball to shortstop, achieving a quality start before leaving the mound when LG was ahead 9-3 in the seventh inning, being replaced by Bae Jae-jun.

Recording 87 pitches, Win used a fastball (48), forkball (28), and curveball (11). His fastball topped out at 147 km/h. Thanks to Win's strong performance, LG secured a convincing 12-4 victory, marking their second consecutive win and clinching a winning series in the weekend three-game set. Win achieved victory in his debut.

In a post-game interview, Win said, "In a way, this was the most important start of my baseball career. I was very nervous and thought it was a really important game. To relieve my anxiety, I talked a lot with my teammates and friends from my hometown. Thanks to that, I was able to calm down a bit and focus on pitching. Ultimately, it's just the same baseball, and today, I did my best to help the team win, which led to a good result."

Win, who noted, "I thought about 80 pitches for today," stated, "Up to 80 pitches, my goal was to pitch my best and throw competitive pitches. I feel like I met those expectations. I achieved results myself, and the team won. Overall, it was a satisfying outing from several perspectives."

LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop mentioned in an interview before the game, "Cohen Win has pitches similar to (Lim) Chan-kyu. We advised that if we follow a pattern similar to Chan-kyu, it would be easier to adapt. Yesterday, he was diligently taking notes, so I told him not to worry too much and watch Chan-kyu's pattern closely."

Win remarked, "Studying (Lim Chan-kyu's pitching) was very helpful. I believe my pitch trajectory is similar to Chan-kyu's. I closely observed how SSG batters reacted to my pitches and how Chan-kyu mixed his pitches. So, I wanted to stay at the ballpark yesterday to directly observe Chan-kyu's pitches. Studying these contents became a great help."

Win, who came to LG for 6 weeks as a replacement foreign pitcher for Eliezer Hernandez, expressed, "I want to return to LG Twins when the Asia quota is introduced next year. The fans are great, and the coaching staff is excellent. My teammates have treated me well, and the front office has taken good care of me, so of course, I want to play for LG." He also mentioned, "What I need to focus on is doing what I can during this short, or perhaps long, period while Hernandez is out," committing to continue providing strong pitching.

On this day, the Jamsil Stadium recorded a sellout of 23,750 seats, marking LG's 15th season home game sellout. Win, who had not often had the opportunity to play in front of such a large crowd in the Australian league, acknowledged, "Pitching in front of a full house made me feel like I had to work even harder since fans were cheering so passionately. Thanks to that, I felt more pleased throwing the ball. Every time I came off the mound after a good inning, the fans cheered my name, which was addictive and nice. I want to continue feeling this way and experience this energy in the future," expressing gratitude to the fans.
