LG Twins infielder Son Yong-jun, in his second year, revealed a strong resolve before his debut, saying, "I will show you through actions rather than words."

On the 2nd, Son Yong-jun was officially registered as a player from a developmental player and was called up to the first team, making his debut for the first time on the 3rd against the SSG Landers.

Son Yong-jun, who was selected by LG in the 3rd round, 28th overall, in the 2024 rookie draft, recorded a batting average of .370 (30 hits in 81 at-bats), with 2 home runs, 14 RBIs, 24 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases this year in the Futures League.

Manager Yeom Kyung-yeop noted, "He's been hitting the best in the second team, but his defense is still somewhat lacking. So he will play as a designated hitter. When he’s hitting well, I’ll bring him up to start in the first team."

Meeting with reporters before the game at Jamsil Stadium on the 3rd, Son Yong-jun said, "I didn't expect it at all, so I'm really grateful and thought that I prepared well in the offseason," adding, "I received a call on the evening of the 1st and told my parents first." He also mentioned, "The second team coaching staff encouraged me to just do what I've been practicing in front of many people without getting too nervous. They gave me a lot of good advice."

It was expected that he would be called up to the first team due to his good performance in the second team. Son Yong-jun said, "I was just thinking about making it to the first team at least once this year, but the coaches told me that good news would come soon. I didn't really think about being called up to the first team and focused on the second team games."

This will be his first game at Jamsil Stadium. Son Yong-jun said, "I’ve only played during practice, and I haven't experienced it with a crowd. I stepped on the field for the first time yesterday, and the atmosphere is much different from the second team, so whether I do well or not, I feel some pressure having to play in front of so many people."

When asked about his strengths, Son Yong-jun said, "My contact hitting seems to be an advantage, so I don't strike out often. My defense has improved a lot compared to last year, but I think accuracy and strength in my throws are my advantages."

On that day, the starting pitcher for SSG was Kim Kwang-hyun, and Son Yong-jun got the chance to start against a great pitcher. When asked if he had seen many videos of Kim Kwang-hyun, Son Yong-jun replied, "Since it’s my first time facing him, I thought it would be better to practice more than just watching videos."

When asked how he would approach his first at-bat, Son Yong-jun said, "I think I will just swing fully like I usually do. If it comes to my waiting zone, I think I will take a full swing." When questioned about his resolve after being called up to the first team, he expressed his intention, stating, "I'm not really a fluent speaker, so I will show you through actions rather than words."
