On the first day of May, two professional baseball games were canceled due to the late spring rain.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 1st that the game between the LG Twins and Hanwha Eagles held at Hanwha Life Park in Daejeon, as well as the game between NC Dinos and KIA Tigers held at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field, were canceled due to rain.

On this day in Daejeon, Hanwha, in second place with a four-game winning streak, aimed for a series sweep against the first-place LG, putting Um Sang-bak on the mound. Currently, first-place LG was mired in a four-game losing streak. Son Joo-young was scheduled to be the starting pitcher. However, with the game canceled due to spring rain, the third game of the series between the two teams did not take place.

In Gwangju, the game between NC and KIA was also canceled. NC was scheduled to start Kim Nok-won, who debuted in 2022. KIA was set to have Yang Hyun-jong as the starting pitcher. NC had won 7-0 the day before (April 30) thanks to Riley's seven scoreless innings and was looking to build on that momentum.

However, with the rain cancellation, they had to take a day off. All four teams whose games were canceled in Daejeon and Gwangju enjoyed a sweet break during the nine-game stretch. The canceled games will be rescheduled later.

Hanwha will move to Gwangju to play a three-game series against KIA over the weekend, while LG will have a three-game series with SSG in Jamsil. KIA will play against Hanwha, and NC will have a three-game Nakdong River derby against Lotte in Sajik.
