Marcus Rashford (27, Manchester United) has expressed his willingness to accept a pay cut to realize his dream of transferring to Barcelona.

The British media outlet TeamTalk reported on the 1st (Korea time) that "Rashford hopes to transfer to the prestigious Barcelona in Spain's La Liga. He is ready to compromise, including reducing his salary."

According to the media, Rashford's current weekly wage is £325,000 (approximately 600 million won).

Rashford is currently on loan at Aston Villa this season, but his participation at the end of the season is uncertain due to a hamstring injury. Before the injury, he recorded 10 attacking points in 17 matches, showcasing his presence. If returning this season becomes difficult, there is a possibility he may return early to Manchester United.

Aston Villa has a full transfer option of £40 million (approximately 76.1 billion won) for Rashford. However, considering the team's current performance and Rashford's desire to transfer, the likelihood of a full transfer is low. Aston Villa currently sits in 7th place in the league. To secure a Champions League qualification for next season, continuous underperformance from top teams is necessary.

Rashford hopes to transfer to a club that can participate in European competitions rather than Aston Villa. In particular, it is reported that he has a strong preference for Barcelona. However, due to financial difficulties, Barcelona finds it challenging to bear the transfer fee of £50 million (approximately 95.1 billion won) set by Manchester United.

For this reason, in order for the transfer to be successful, Manchester United needs to compromise by lowering the transfer fee.

To make the transfer a reality, Rashford must also accept another condition: to take on the role of a 'backup resource.' Barcelona already has solid starters, including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal. Even though Rashford can play in various positions, he is likely to be utilized as a rotation member.

Ultimately, Rashford's transfer to Barcelona is not a simple one. It requires both the player's concessions and adjustments to the transfer fee by Manchester United. The journey to wear the Barcelona jersey demands more sacrifices than ever before.
