Another injury has occurred in the KT infield.

KT Wiz infielder Jang Jun-won started as the ninth second baseman in the season's sixth game against the Doosan Bears in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 1st and was injured during the bottom of the sixth inning.

It was the bottom of the sixth with a score tied at 1-1. Doosan leadoff batter Kim In-tae walked and was replaced by pinch runner Jo Soo-hyung. With one out and a runner on first base, Yang Eui-ji came to the plate, while Jo Soo-hyung attempted to steal second base, and Jang Jun-won, covering second base, severely injured his left ankle.

Jang Jun-won collapsed on the ground, expressing extreme pain, and was urgently transported by ambulance. The second baseman was replaced by Kang Min-seong.

A KT official noted, “Jang Jun-won suffered an injury to his left ankle while playing defense and is currently being transported to the hospital. I will share more details as soon as I receive them.”

KT is currently without starting third baseman Heo Kyung-min, second baseman Kim Sang-soo, and Oh Yoon-seok due to injuries. Thus, they were managing the infield with backup players including Jang Jun-won, Chun Sung-ho, and Kwon Dong-jin, but with Jang Jun-won suffering an unexpected injury, transitioning to Plan C became unavoidable.
