The Korea Sports Council united in shouting against corruption.
The Korea Sports Council held the 'Integrity and Anti-Corruption Improvement Meeting and the 4th Appointment Ceremony for Integrity Citizen Inspectors' on the 29th at 5 p.m. at the 13th floor of the Olympic Hall, embarking on institutional improvements to enhance the transparency and fairness of sports administration.
The Korea Sports Council explained, "This was the first official meeting since the appointment of Chairman Yoo Seong-min (43) in February with the Integrity Citizen Inspectors," and said, "We had time to review the institutional deficiencies revealed by audits from external organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Board of Audit and Inspection and to discuss preventive audit system establishment and effective improvement measures."
In particular, the Korea Sports Council appointed new external private experts, including inspectors from the Board of Audit and Inspection and investigation specialists from the police, to strengthen the monitoring capabilities of the Integrity Citizen Inspectors. The 4th Integrity Citizen Inspectors consist of 10 private experts from various fields such as auditing, accounting, taxation, labor, and investigation, who will perform more specialized auditing advice.
Chairman Yoo Seong-min emphasized, "Integrity and transparency are core values directly linked to the sustainability of the Korea Sports Council," adding, "Now is the right time to fundamentally overhaul sports administration, having gained an opportunity for improvement through external audits." He further noted, "The independent and professional perspectives of the Integrity Citizen Inspectors are expected to greatly contribute to restoring trust across the sports community and fostering a healthy organizational culture."
The Integrity Citizen Inspector system is a preventive monitoring system that participates not only in audit activities targeting the Korea Sports Council and its member organizations but also in the evaluation of various projects. The 4th inspectors will serve until the end of 2025, assuming an advisory role for realizing fair sports administration.
The Korea Sports Council emphasized, "By using this additional appointment of Integrity Citizen Inspectors and the integrity and anti-corruption improvement meeting as a cornerstone, we aim to solidify our cooperation system with external private experts and continue to structurally reform and support to realize a transparent and fair sports administration."
