Tottenham Hotspur is said to be moving to recruit Xabi Alonso, the current Bayer Leverkusen manager (43), and Jürgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager (57).
The British media outlet 'GiveMeSport' reported on the 26th (Korea time) that "Tottenham discussed manager Alonso as a candidate for the next head coach. They also expressed interest in manager Klopp."
Manager Postecoglou is reportedly likely to leave the team after the end of this season, regardless of the outcome of the UEFA Europa League.
Tottenham has begun the process of selecting a new head coach, but competition from other clubs is expected to make it difficult.
Manager Alonso earned recognition for his leadership by leading Bayer Leverkusen to the Bundesliga title last season. Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro hinted that "if manager Alonso receives a call from his former team, he may leave the club."
Interest in manager Alonso is not limited to Tottenham. His former club, Real Madrid, has also identified Alonso as their top choice for the next manager.
Real is reportedly likely to part ways with manager Carlo Ancelotti after the end of this season, as he is expected to take charge of the Brazilian national football team.
Tottenham has also included manager Klopp in their list of candidates.
Manager Klopp led Mainz to promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in the club's 99-year history after three attempts. Since 2008, he has managed Dortmund, achieving back-to-back league titles in the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.
Manager Klopp won a total of five trophies at Dortmund before moving to Liverpool in 2015.
He led Liverpool to victory in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in the 2018-2019 season and achieved the English Premier League (EPL) title in the 2019-2020 season. He also added the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup trophies.
Manager Klopp left Liverpool after the end of last season, stating, "I am no longer young. Liverpool needs a better manager," and resigned.
Currently, manager Klopp serves as the global football director for the Red Bull Football Group.
'GiveMeSport' reported that manager Klopp recently rejected an offer from Real Madrid. However, Tottenham is still working to recruit manager Klopp.
