Arne Slot and Virgil van Dijk set another record with the victory.

Under the leadership of Slot, Liverpool achieved a 5-1 home win against Tottenham in the 34th round of the 2024-2025 English Premier League (EPL) at Anfield in Liverpool, England, on the 28th (Korea time).

As a result, Liverpool secured the championship regardless of the outcomes of the remaining matches. It was the first championship trophy won in five years since the 2019-2020 season under Jurgen Klopp, and it marked the club's 20th championship overall, as well as the second win since the Premier League was established in 1992.

In particular, Slot and van Dijk became the first Dutch national coach and captain to experience Premier League victory. Slot experienced winning in his debut season as the successor to Jurgen Klopp.

Van Dijk was also part of the captain's team during the 2019-2020 season. However, the captain at that time was Jordan Henderson, and van Dijk served as the third captain after vice-captain James Milner.

Slot praised the players in an interview with 'Sky Sports,' noting, "It wasn't an ideal start, but it didn't take long to believe in these players," and added, "These players always get back up and always find a way to win."

He further explained the secret to the victory, saying, "This is not just my achievement. It is thanks to the efforts of all the players and staff here, as well as the contributions of former coach Jurgen Klopp and former chief coach Pep Lijnders who have been left behind here."

Slot stated, "The culture, hard work, and excellent quality of this team were already known to everyone," adding, "We started the season really well, and the fact that Manchester City went through a difficult time that hadn't been seen in the last five years helped a bit."

He also expressed, "When we started the season, everyone would have been satisfied just to get into the top four for Champions League qualification, but that was not a fair expectation for our players," and noted, "These players have much better skills and have proven that throughout this season."

Van Dijk remarked, "This is truly a special moment. We do not take this moment for granted. It’s amazing," and shared, "Before the game and throughout the week, there were many emotions, but we ultimately made it," adding, "We are truly deserving English champions."

He continued, "Liverpool is the most beautiful club in the world," expressing, "We deserve to enjoy all of this," and emphasized, "I want to fully enjoy and realize this joy over the next few weeks."
