SSG finished their series in Suwon with a winning series, led by the strong performance of Moon Seung-won (36) who returned.

Professional baseball team SSG Landers achieved a narrow 6-5 victory against the KT Wiz in the fifth matchup of their season on the 24th at Suwon KT Wiz Park in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League.

SSG decorated the three-game series against KT with two consecutive wins. They recovered a season record of 12 wins and 12 losses, raising their ranking to 6th. In contrast, KT, now on a two-game losing streak, dropped to 5th with 13 wins, 1 tie, and 12 losses.

SSG strongly pressured KT's substitute starter Kang Geon from the first inning. Lead-off batter Choi Ji-hoon walked and stole second base, followed by Choi Jun-woo who also walked. Oh Tae-gon helped advance both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Ko Myung-jun then hit a ground ball to the second baseman, bringing home the runner from third, Choi Ji-hoon.

In the second inning, with lead-off batter Han Yu-seom and Kim Seong-hyeon reaching base on consecutive walks, Jo Hyeong-woo made a sacrifice bunt to create a situation with one out and runners on second and third. Jung Jun-jae also selected a walk, loading the bases, and Choi Ji-hoon hit a sacrifice fly to right field, followed by Choi Jun-woo with a two-run single to extend the lead to 4-0.

The SSG lineup powered up again in the top of the fourth. After one out, Jung Jun-jae walked, and Choi Ji-hoon hit a single to right, placing runners on first and third. After Choi Ji-hoon successfully stole second base, Choi Jun-woo hit an infield ground ball to extend the gap with a run batted in.

KT, who had been held scoreless by SSG's starter Moon Seung-won until the fifth inning, began to retaliate in the bottom of the sixth. After one out, Kim Min-hyuk broke the ice with a double, and Jang Seong-woo, who came up with two outs and a runner on second, hit an RBI double on Moon Seung-won's first pitch.

SSG did not sit back. In the top of the seventh, lead-off batter Choi Jun-woo walked, and substitute player Choi Sang-min successfully stole second base. With one out and a runner on third following a ground out by Oh Tae-gon, Ko Myung-jun hit a crucial RBI double, adding to their lead.

KT did not back down. In the bottom of the seventh, after one out, Oh Yun-seok hit a single to center, followed by Bae Jeong-dae who advanced due to a fielding error by third baseman Kim Seong-hyeon. Kwon Dong-jin then hit a single to center, loading the bases. Following this, Mel Rojas Jr. hit a two-run single against the changed pitcher Noh Kyung-eun, and Kim Min-hyuk followed with an RBI double. Heo Gyeong-min contributed to the momentum with a straight walk, while Jang Seong-woo hit a sacrifice fly, narrowing the gap to 5-6. However, it was insufficient to tie the game.

SSG starter Moon Seung-won recorded 5⅔ innings, giving up 4 hits, 1 walk, striking out 6 while allowing 1 run on 102 pitches for his second win of the season (1 loss). He had missed one rotation after being diagnosed with kidney stones on the 16th but silenced concerns with his more seasoned pitching. Following him were Kim Min (⅔ inning, 3 runs, 2 earned) - Noh Kyung-eun (1⅓ innings, 1 run) - Jo Byeong-hyeon (1⅓ innings, no runs), and Jo Byeong-hyeon registered his third save of the season.

In the batting order, Choi Jun-woo achieved 1 hit in 2 at-bats with 3 RBIs and 2 walks, while Ko Myung-jun had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 2 RBIs.

On the other hand, substitute starter Kang Geon for Emmanuel De Jesus struggled with 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, 5 walks, and 4 runs on 67 pitches, suffering his first loss of the season. The 2 hits from Rojas and Kim Min-hyuk, along with Jang Seong-woo's 2 RBIs, were not enough to prevent the defeat.

SSG will face the Kiwoom Heroes at home in a three-game weekend series starting on the 25th. KT will travel to Daejeon to meet the Hanwha Eagles.
