The Doosan Bears' starting catcher, Yang Eui-ji, suddenly disappeared in the second inning.

Yang Eui-ji was a starting player in the season's fourth game against the Lotte Giants in the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League held at the Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 25th.

Yang Eui-ji faced Lotte's starting pitcher, Tucker Davidson, in the bottom of the first inning with two outs and no runners on base, and he was retired on a ground ball to the second baseman. Then, he was abruptly replaced by backup catcher Kim Gi-yeon at the start of the second inning, ending his game early.

A Doosan official noted, "Yang Eui-ji felt tightness in his right side after batting in the bottom of the first inning, so he was replaced for precautionary reasons."

With the starting catcher changing from the second inning, a decline in performance was unavoidable in both offense and defense. Kim Gi-yeon, along with Yang Seok-hwan and Kim Jae-hwan, took on the cleanup trio role in the third batting order while handling the full-time catching duties.
