Doosan Bears manager Lee Seung-yup apologized for the bench clearing incident that occurred during the last game.

On the 24th, Lee Seung-yup said in an interview before the game against the Kiwoom Heroes at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, "There should be no accidents during the game. (Kim) Yu-seong probably did not intentionally throw the ball."

Doosan defeated Kiwoom 8-2 on the 23rd, leveling their midweek three-game series at one win and one loss. However, they could not fully enjoy this victory because starting pitcher Kim Yu-seong frequently threw dangerous pitches inside, leading to the bench clearing incident in the fourth inning.

In the second inning, with one out, Kim Yu-seong hit Yasiel Puig with a breaking ball. Subsequently, he threw threatening pitches high and inside at Im Ji-yeol and Ruben Cardenas, and ultimately, when a 148 km/h fastball came in at Puig's face during the fourth inning, Puig expressed his anger, walking towards Kim Yu-seong, resulting in the bench clearing. Fortunately, the bench clearing did not lead to a physical confrontation, and the umpiring crew warned Kim Yu-seong about his dangerous pitching before resuming the game.

Lee Seung-yup noted, "These days, baseball isn’t about throwing dangerous pitches. Yu-seong has had pitches that got away from him unintentionally. There should not be intentional dangerous pitches. As a manager, I feel sorry for the Kiwoom team. I hope you understand that there was no intention behind this." He emphasized again, "We will absolutely not play dirty baseball."

Doosan's starting lineup was composed of Jung Soo-bin (center fielder), Jake Cave (right fielder), Yang Eui-ji (catcher), Yang Seok-hwan (first baseman), Kim Jae-hwan (designated hitter), Kim Min-seok (left fielder), Kang Seung-ho (third baseman), Park Jun-young (shortstop), and Oh Myung-jin (second baseman). The starting pitcher is Cole Ervin. Kim Yu-seong was removed from the first team roster, and Ryu Hyun-jun was called up.

Lee Seung-yup, who sent Kim Yu-seong down to the second team, explained, "Yu-seong needs to produce results. In the games he pitched, he hasn’t averaged five innings. Because he can't eat innings, we have to use six or seven pitchers behind him. That's a huge loss for us. Also, he threw 14 walks over 13 innings. It’s difficult for everyone."

"The first team is not a place for testing; it’s a place for delivering results," said Lee Seung-yup. "In some ways, Yu-seong has only pitched in four games, so one might think he hasn't had enough opportunity. However, if he shows signs of improvement, we might see more of him, but since the pattern remains the same, I believe it would be better for the team to send him down to the second team for reassessment rather than having him pitch in the first team."

Choi Jun-ho will fill Kim Yu-seong's position. Lee Seung-yup said, "For now, (Choi) Jun-ho will come in next week. He was a candidate for starting pitcher since the preseason. He has prepared as a starting pitcher who can throw a lot of pitches during the camp. He gained experience last year, so it shouldn’t be a significant burden." He revealed the plan for the fifth starter.
