The Hanwha Eagles are writing a new history, soaring with an 8-game winning streak.

The Hanwha Eagles, led by Manager Kim Kyung-moon, defeated the Lotte Giants 6-4 in a regular-season game of the 2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League held at Busan Sajik Stadium on the 23rd.

Thus, Hanwha has continued their 8-game winning streak. They had previously recorded an 8-game winning streak from June 21, 2023, against KIA in Daejeon to July 1 in Daegu against Samsung. This is an 8-game winning streak that has been 662 days in the making.

Additionally, starting pitcher Ryan Weathers showcased a stellar performance with 6 innings, allowing 8 hits, no walks, 12 strikeouts, and giving up 2 runs, thus completing the remarkable feat of achieving 8 consecutive wins as a starter. He set a new club record.

The previous record was 7 consecutive wins, which had occurred three times in history. During the Binggrae era, from May 25, 1988, against Lotte in Masan to June 5 against the Pacific in Incheon, Han Hee-min, Kim Yong-nam, Kim Hong-myung, Han Hee-min, Lee Dong-seock, Kim Hong-myung, and Kim Yong-nam collaborated for the first 7-game winning streak as starters. In 1988, Binggrae made its first appearance in the Korean Series.

Then, from September 24, 1999, against Hyundai in Incheon to October 5 in Daejeon against Samsung, Jung Min-cheol, Lee Sang-mok, Jung Min-cheol, Lee Sang-mok, Jung Min-cheol, Koo Dae-sung, and Lee Sang-mok recorded 7 consecutive wins as starters. 1999 was Hanwha's first and last Korean Series championship season.

The most recent was from April 7, 2001, against SK in Daejeon to April 14 against Hite in Cheongju, where Jo Kyu-soo, Han Yong-duk, Lee Sang-mok, Jo Kyu-soo, Song Jin-woo, Han Yong-duk, and Park Jeong-jin achieved 7 consecutive wins as starters. That year, Hanwha also made it to the postseason.

On this day, Manager Kim Kyung-moon's tailored lineup hit the mark. Hanwha's starting lineup consisted of Hwang Young-mook (2nd baseman), Florial (center fielder), Moon Hyun-bin (designated hitter), Noh Si-hwan (3rd baseman), Chae Eun-sung (1st baseman), Lee Jin-young (left fielder), Im Jong-chan (right fielder), Lee Jae-won (catcher), and Shim Woo-joon (shortstop).

Both Hwang Young-mook and Moon Hyun-bin were strong against Lotte's starter Charlie Barnes. Ultimately, Hanwha scored 5 runs in the first inning and 1 run in the second, taking an early 6-run lead which they did not relinquish. In the 9th inning, closer Kim Seo-hyun faced a crisis with 7 consecutive balls thrown but ultimately escaped the threat by turning Yoon Dong-hee into a double play, securing the save.

After the game, Manager Kim Kyung-moon noted, "The early hitters demonstrated focus, scoring a lot of runs, and our pitchers did well to protect that score. I want to express my gratitude to the players for maintaining their concentration and securing the victory in the cold weather."

Now, Hanwha aims to continue their record of 9 consecutive wins as a starter with their ace Ryu Hyun-jin. Lotte's Park Se-woong will take the mound.
