Manchester United (Man U) is considering sending Alejandro Garnacho (21) away to acquire Matheus Cunha (26, currently Wolverhampton), who plays for the same team as Hwang Hee-chan.

British media outlet TalkSport reported on the 24th (Korean time) that Man U is preparing to sell Garnacho to secure funds for rebuilding this summer, including the acquisition of Cunha. Man U has been listening to offers for Garnacho since the January transfer market.

Cunha, who is from Brazil, reportedly has a buyout clause of £62.5 million in his contract. Wolverhampton has stated it will accept partitioning payments, but Man U also wants to finalize the contract as quickly as possible.

Garnacho is a product of the Man U youth system. This means that under the profitability and sustainability (PSR) regulations, Garnacho's transfer fee can be classified as 100% club revenue. If he were a player acquired from another club, the transfer fee would need to be excluded to count as club revenue.

Garnacho was one of the standout players for Man U early in the season. He scored 8 goals in the first 20 matches. However, he has only scored 2 goals since November.

Garnacho still has 3 years left on his contract. However, Atlético Madrid has shown a lot of interest in Garnacho, and manager Ruben Amorim has yet to find a tactical position that fits Garnacho.

Garnacho, who has gone through youth systems at Getafe, Atlético Madrid, and Man U, made his Premier League debut under manager Ralph Rangnick in 2022. Since then, he has played a total of 137 matches for Man U, scoring 25 goals and providing 21 assists.

Garnacho joined the Argentina national team for the first time in June last year and also experienced winning the Copa América 2024. With Ángel Di María announcing his retirement from the national team, it is expected that Garnacho will get more playing opportunities.
