Scott Parker (45), who led Burnley to the English Premier League (EPL), is being urged to take the helm at Tottenham.

Under Parker's leadership, Burnley won 2-1 against Sheffield United in the 44th round of the 2024-2025 Championship (second division) on the 22nd.

This victory allowed Burnley to equal the points (94) of league leaders Leeds United and secured their promotion to the EPL. They returned to the top tier just one season after being relegated. Burnley is now in the championship title race with Leeds.

Burnley, led by Parker, finished the season with only 15 goals conceded after he returned as head coach in the summer of 2024, solidifying their promotion as the team with the fewest goals conceded in the league across 44 matches. This was 14 goals fewer than any other team.

Jamie O'Hara (39), who played alongside Parker at Tottenham, said in an interview with British outlet 'Talksport' on the 23rd (Korean time) that Parker should be brought to Tottenham after achieving promotion with Burnley.

Tottenham is currently in 16th place in the league, just above the relegation zone. With their survival in the league confirmed, there is a very high possibility that they will part ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou at the end of the season.

Tottenham still has a slim chance to redeem themselves by reaching the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League. However, 'Talksport' reports that even if Tottenham wins the Europa League, they will still part ways with Postecoglou.

O'Hara noted, "He already has experience at Tottenham, and the club knows him well. He is a great player and has become a good coach. I would love to see Parker come to Tottenham. There's something special about him."

O'Hara continued, "I played with Parker, and as someone who shared a changing room with him, I can say he is a really great person. His speeches are fantastic, and he has been an excellent captain. I've seen him as the manager of Burnley, and I really like what I see."

Parker, who is also a Tottenham ambassador, started his career at Charlton Athletic and played for Norwich City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Tottenham, and Fulham.

After retiring, Parker began his coaching career by managing Tottenham's U-18 team and then debuted as a head coach with Fulham, who were relegated in the summer of 2019.

Parker led Fulham to 4th place in the 2019-2020 season and returned to the Premier League within a year by continuing to win in the playoffs. However, he parted ways with Fulham when they were relegated again in the 2020-2021 season.

Parker was appointed head coach of AFC Bournemouth for the 2021-2022 season, elevating the team to 2nd place and returning to the Premier League. However, he experienced the pain of being sacked after a 0-9 defeat to Liverpool in the 4th round of the league.

In December 2022, Parker resumed his coaching career at Club Brugge (Belgium) but was dismissed after a Champions League match against Benfica (Portugal) in March 2023. He then took charge of Burnley in the summer of 2023.

Under Parker's guidance, Burnley became a team with the fewest goals conceded (15) during the season, which allowed them to gain promotion. They conceded 14 goals fewer than league leaders Leeds (29 goals).

Above all, Parker's experience in promoting both Fulham and Bournemouth to the Premier League makes him an attractive candidate. However, he has yet to complete a single season in the Premier League.

When asked if it might be too early for him to go to a club competing in European competitions, O'Hara stated, "I like the way he plays football; I think his identity is good. It may be an early stage for him, but a club like Tottenham could be a stepping stone he needs."

O'Hara emphasized, "They can't do worse than this season. I think that would be fine. I wouldn't mind that." This could be seen as an indirect jab at Postecoglou.

Postecoglou recorded an infamous statistic when Tottenham lost 2-1 at home to Nottingham Forest in the 33rd round of the 2024-2025 English Premier League (EPL) on the 22nd (Korean time). He is now tied for the second-most losses by a Premier League manager in the history of Tottenham.

The 18 losses this season equal the record set 28 years ago in the 1996-1997 season under head coach Gerry Francis, when Tottenham finished 10th in the league with 46 points (13 wins, 7 draws, and 18 losses).

If Tottenham adds one more loss, Postecoglou will align with the manager who holds the record for most losses in the club's history. This would equal the 19 losses set by Osvaldo Ardiles, who was in charge during the 1993-1994 season.

At that time, Ardiles' Tottenham remained at 45 points (11 wins, 12 draws, and 19 losses) and finished 15th in the league. However, Ardiles' team played 42 matches, four more than the current situation with Postecoglou, who still has five matches left.

Meanwhile, the outlet reported that Daniel Levy, the chairman, is also interested in Kieran McKenna, head coach of Ipswich Town, who is another promotion specialist. Additionally, managers Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth, Marco Silva of Fulham, and Thomas Frank of Brentford are still in the candidate list.
