Kim Dong-mun, the 32nd president of the Korea Badminton Association, promised change and challenges.
The Korea Badminton Association held the inauguration ceremony for its 32nd president at the Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul, on the 21st.
More than 200 attendees, including key figures from the domestic badminton community, sports officials, athletes, and association representatives, shared visions for the future of Korean badminton and committed to a new start during this meaningful event.
In his inaugural address, President Kim Dong-mun presented the slogan 'Through bold changes and new challenges, South Korean badminton will soar again,' and noted, 'My commitment to break the old mold, not to settle for familiarity, and to strive for greater heights is a promise I make to the public and to everyone in the badminton family.'
President Kim Dong-mun, a men's doubles gold medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a living badminton legend in Korea who has competed on the world stage including the World Championships and the Asian Games, has contributed to popularizing badminton and expanding its base after retiring. He has worked at his alma mater, Wonkwang University, mentoring future generations, providing commentary for major international competitions, and engaging as a sports administration expert. Through this inauguration, President Kim plans to enhance the transparency and communication of the association, draw upon his experience and expertise as a former athlete, and elevate the global status of Korean badminton through cooperation with the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and the Badminton Asia (BA).
The association also plans to implement various policies and projects to further deepen the penetration of Korean badminton into the daily lives of citizens, while fostering a healthy culture based on the spirit of sports.
