The Korea Professional Football League announced on the 21st that Jumin-kyu, a forward for Daejeon Hana Citizen, was selected as the EA SPORTS K League 1 player of the month for February and March 2025.

The 'EA SPORTS Player of the Month Award' was established by the Korea Professional Football League in collaboration with its official K League video game partner, Electronic Arts, in 2019 and is awarded monthly to the player who demonstrates the best performance.

The player of the month for February and March was selected from among players who showed outstanding performance in rounds 1 to 6 of K League 1, following a first-round vote by the league's TSG technical committee (60%), with Jumin-kyu (Daejeon), Boyanich (Ulsan Hyundai FC), Kim Jun-ha (Jeju United FC), and Lee Dong-gyeong (Gimcheon Sangmu) nominated. Subsequently, from the 10th to the 13th, a second-round fan vote (25%) was conducted through the K League official application 'Kick,' along with an FC online game user vote (15%), and the final winner was determined by combining the results of the first and second votes.

As a result of the voting, Jumin-kyu, who received strong support in both rounds, was confidently selected as the first player of the month this season. Thus, Jumin-kyu receives his second player of the month award in his career, two years after February and March 2023.

Jumin-kyu is currently leading Daejeon's surge. As the representative forward of K League, Jumin-kyu declared a new challenge by transferring to Daejeon ahead of this season. Daejeon expected Jumin-kyu to deliver his best performance as a forward. Jumin-kyu immediately proved himself, scoring multiple goals in the season opener against Pohang Steelers, leading his team to their first victory of the season.

Jumin-kyu's scoring streak did not stop there. He scored frequently, demonstrating good positioning and high decisiveness. Scoring 1 goal against Suwon FC, 1 goal and 1 assist against Daegu FC, and 1 goal against Jeju, he recorded a total of 5 goals and 1 assist over 6 matches by March. In addition to his scoring ability, Jumin-kyu also showcased remarkable playmaking skills. Through his solid physique, he established dominance in the Chonbang and created opportunities with his precise passing. His strengths were highlighted in the match against Daegu, where he assisted Choi Geon-joo's goal.

Daejeon won all the matches in which Jumin-kyu scored. With Jumin-kyu, Daejeon showed a strong upward trend, recording 4 wins in 6 matches and rising to the top of the league standings. The tactical approach of head coach Hwang Sun-hong and the team's commitment stood out, with Jumin-kyu's performance being central to their success.

Daejeon also made history. This is the first time a player from Daejeon has been selected as the player of the month. Since the award was established in 2019, Daejeon had never had a player of the month. While Daejeon received various accolades such as coach of the month, goal of the month, and save of the month, they had not won the player of the month award. However, with Jumin-kyu becoming the player of the month for Daejeon, a new history has been made.

The player of the month award ceremony will take place on the 27th during the match between Daejeon Hana Citizen and Gangwon FC in the 10th round of Hana Bank K League 1 2025. Jumin-kyu, the player of the month, will receive a trophy and prize money, along with benefits such as a patch for the player of the month award on the uniform for the current season.
