The 'K League Life Sharing Campaign,' which spreads positive awareness of organ and tissue donation, will continue in 2025.
The 'K League Life Sharing Campaign' has been conducted in collaboration with the Korea Professional Football League (Chairman Kwon Oh-gap, hereinafter referred to as the 'League'), the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare National Organ and Tissue Blood Management Center (Director Jang Ho-yeon), and the Korea Organ Donation Agency (Director Lee Sam-yeol) since 2016.
The League has been working hard to improve awareness of organ and tissue donation through the 'K League Life Sharing Campaign' by hosting various activities, including ▲ touring education for players, ▲ operating life-sharing promotion booths at stadiums, and ▲ appointing life-sharing ambassadors. As a result, a total of 632 K League players, officials, and fans participated in the hope to register for organ and tissue donation by last year.
The ongoing K League Life Sharing Campaign launched on the 20th at the Jeju World Cup Stadium during the K League 1 Round 9 match between Jeju SK FC and Pohang Steelers.
On that day, the Jeju club held a ceremony to commemorate the participation of all Jeju players in the hope to register for organ and tissue donation before the match. This is the first time since the 2019 season that all Jeju players have participated in the hope to register for donation.
Additionally, an event titled 'Light the Seeds of Hope' took place at the stadium square. This event was designed to intuitively convey the value of life sharing to fans by having them step on a stepper device for 10 seconds to light the 'Seeds of Hope'.
Meanwhile, the hope to register for organ and tissue donation is a system for expressing consent for donation upon brain death or after death, and one family member's consent is required at the actual time of donation. Applications for the hope to register for donation can be made through the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare National Organ and Tissue Blood Management Center's website and relevant institutions.
Going forward, the League plans to steadily conduct life-sharing education for K League clubs throughout the year and to continue promoting the value of life sharing through activities on match days.
