The Korea Taekwondo Association will host the 2025 National Taekwondo Championships (high school division, general division) at the Taebaek High-altitude Sports Center from the 21st (Monday) to the 26th (Saturday). This tournament will be divided into high school and general divisions, with the high school division taking place over five days from the 21st (Monday) to the 25th (Friday), and the general division occurring on the 26th (Saturday).
The target participants are athletes who have not placed in national-scale competitions, emphasizing practical experience and improvement in competitive skills, making it an important stage for the next generation of promising players. Notably, this year, the number of applicants for the tournament has decreased compared to previous years, resulting in the tournament schedule being shortened by one day compared to last year, and the general division matches have been adjusted to a single schedule.
Korea Taekwondo Association President Yang Jin-bang noted, "This tournament will provide rookie athletes with opportunities to compete and serve as a stage to assess the skills of promising players from across the country," adding, "We will also ensure the efficiency of tournament operations and improve the satisfaction of the athletes."
Meanwhile, the Korea Taekwondo Association plans to accelerate efforts to expand the base of taekwondo and discover talents who can grow into the next generation of national representatives through this tournament.
