Captain Koo Ja-wook of the Samsung Lions displayed outstanding performance both offensively and defensively, contributing to the team's escape from a four-game losing streak.

Samsung broke the streak with a 6-3 victory over LG on the 17th at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

Starter Won Tae-in earned the win, pitching six innings while allowing five hits, one walk, one hit batter, striking out three, and giving up one run. Diaz hit a game-changing two-run home run, and Kang Min-ho extended the lead with a two-run double in a two-out, one-on-first and second situation.

Koo Ja-wook reached base with Diaz's home run and Kang Min-ho's double, recording two hits and two runs in four at-bats. Most importantly, he sparked cheers from the crowd with a spectacular catch early in the game, driving the momentum toward Samsung's victory.

In the bottom of the fourth, with one out and a runner on first, Won Tae-in faced a ball that seemed to be a home run against Park Dong-won. As soon as it was hit, Won Tae-in turned toward the catcher and slightly lowered his head, not looking at the ball. He thought it was a home run. However, left fielder Koo Ja-wook made a remarkable defensive play, leaping up against the fence to make the catch. Realizing too late that it was a fly out, Won Tae-in took off his cap and expressed his gratitude toward Koo Ja-wook.

After the game, when he praised Koo Ja-wook for the spectacular catch in the fourth inning, Koo Ja-wook humorously replied, "It was an easy fly..." When Won Tae-in said he thought it was a home run, Koo Ja-wook explained the situation, saying, "I thought it was a home run the moment I hit it, but as I chased it, I thought I could catch it. The wind seemed to help a bit."

After the game, Won Tae-in commented on that play, saying, "I thought it was flying into the stands. Honestly, if that ball had been at the Ladie's Park, it would have definitely been a home run, and I think it would have landed right on the path where people walk by."

He continued, "As soon as it was hit, I really thought it was definitely gone, so I didn’t look at it. I couldn’t tell if the cheers were from our side or LG's, and the noise was so loud that I thought it must have gone out. When I turned around, I saw the runner at third base and the ball coming in, and even then I didn’t know. I wondered why the runner was on third and looked at Min-ho, who told me it didn’t go out."

Won Tae-in remarked on Koo Ja-wook's great defensive play, saying, "I didn’t see the ball, but I figured that if it was that kind of ball, Ja-wook would have made a good play, so I thanked him. Jamsil is indeed great."

Koo Ja-wook recorded his first multi-hit game of April with two hits in four at-bats, along with two runs. His batting average rose from the 10% range to 21%.

Koo Ja-wook prioritized the team, stating, "I'm just glad we won and broke the losing streak. Tae-in pitched well, and (Shim) Jae-hoon came up and did a great job." He also praised rookie Shim Jae-hoon, who made his professional debut, going one for two with three walks, one stolen base, and two runs.
