'Flower boy volleyball star' Lim Seong-jin (26) is leaving the Korea Electric Power Corporation to wear the KB Insurance uniform.
KB Insurance Stars officially announced on the 16th that they have successfully strengthened their team by signing a contract with star free agent national team outside hitter Lim Seong-jin.
KB Insurance noted, "Since joining the Korea Electric Power Corporation as the 2nd overall pick in the first round of the 2020-2021 rookie draft, Lim Seong-jin has demonstrated stable play since his debut season. He is now recognized as one of the leading figures in Korean volleyball, playing as the nation's top outside hitter and being selected for the national team."
Lim Seong-jin once again proved his top-level skills, recording 7th in scoring (484 points), 3rd in defense (4.13 per set), and 4th in digs (1.84 per set) for the 2024-2025 season.
KB Insurance stated, "By adding Lim Seong-jin to the team, we have strengthened our offense and defense, securing a strong potential to challenge for the championship in the upcoming season. In particular, he will join the national team alongside key players like Hwang Taek-ui, Na Gyeong-bok, and Cha Yeong-seok, preparing for competitions such as the AVC Challenge Cup and the World Championship starting in May."
A club official said, "We decided to recruit Lim Seong-jin because his skills and international competition experience can strengthen the team's power and allow us to take another step toward becoming a prestigious club. We will prepare well to reach new heights in the upcoming season."
Lim Seong-jin expressed, "I am sad to leave the Korea Electric Power Corporation volleyball team and sincerely thank the fans, players, and club officials who have supported me until now." He added, "I am happy to join the KB Insurance Stars and will strive to show a better version of myself as 'Uijeongbu KB Insurance Stars' Lim Seong-jin to the fans."
Meanwhile, KB Insurance added, "We have completed contracts with setter Hwang Taek-ui, who is an internal free agent, and libero Jeong Min-soo, and details regarding the contract period and salary will be announced later."
