Jeonbuk Hyundai could not break through the shield of Ansan Greeners in 90 minutes.

Jeonbuk Hyundai finished regular time at 0-0 against Ansan Greeners in the third round of the 2025 Hana Bank Korea Cup held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the evening of the 16th. The match is now heading to extra time.

Under the guidance of coach Gus Poyet, Jeonbuk operated in a 4-3-3 formation. Song Min-kyu, Thiago, Lee Seung-woo, Kim Jin-kyu, Han Guk-young, Lee Young-jae, Choi Woo-jin, Kim Young-bin, Yeon Je-woon, Choi Cheol-soon, and Kim Jeong-hoon were the starters.

Ansan, led by coach Lee Kwan-woo, faced off in a 3-4-3 formation. Seo Myeong-sik, Jung Sung-ho, Park Chae-jun, Park Si-hwa, Rafa, Son Jun-seok, Jung Yong-hee, Jang Min-jun, Jo Ji-hoon, Bae Su-min, and Jo Seong-hoon were the first to charge.

From the start, Jeonbuk threatened Ansan's goal. In the 2nd minute of the first half, Lee Seung-woo made a sudden cross from a free-kick opportunity earned on the right side. Song Min-kyu penetrated behind the defense and connected it with a shot, but it went over the goal.

Jeonbuk almost conceded due to a mistake. In the 22nd minute of the first half, Yeon Je-woon and Kim Jeong-hoon collided over the ball in front of the goal, creating a crisis. Kim Jeong-hoon's hasty clearance fell nearby, and Rafa's shot came afterward, but Jeonbuk's defense blocked it with their bodies.

Jeonbuk dominated possession and knocked on Ansan's goal. In the 28th minute of the first half, Ansan's defense let the ball slip back, and Thiago took a quick shot. However, the ball failed to find the goal. Kim Jin-kyu's sharp free-kick shot in the 31st minute also narrowly missed the right side of the goal.

A decisive first goal was hard to come by. In the 41st minute of the first half, Thiago's header went straight to the goalkeeper, and in the 43rd minute, Lee Seung-woo's exquisite bicycle kick went just a bit high. The first half ended without a score.

Ansan began to attack more aggressively in the second half. After substituting Park Si-hwa for Lim Ji-min, they raised their defensive line. Jeonbuk's bench also reacted. Coach Poyet replaced Thiago, Lee Young-jae, and Kim Jin-kyu with Compaño, Kang Sang-yoon, and Jeon Jin-woo all at once in the 13th minute of the second half.

The frustrating flow continued. Jeonbuk struggled to find avenues for attack. They tried to exploit the flanks and create cracks in the half-space, but it did not go as planned. Ansan also applied strong pressure, looking for scoring opportunities, but lacked precision in finishing.

Jeonbuk again played their substitution card. In the 27th minute of the second half, they substituted Song Min-kyu, Lee Seung-woo, and Han Guk-young for Andriy, Jin Tae-ho, and Park Jin-seob, seeking change.

Both teams exchanged decisive shots. In the 42nd minute of the second half, Jin Tae-ho broke through the left side of the box during a counterattack but was denied by the goalkeeper. Ansan's Saraiba's shot inside the box in the 43rd minute was blocked by the defensive wall. Ultimately, the match continued without a goal until the final whistle, leading to extra time.
